My Recent Reading Habits

(And writing, as well)
In late October, I completed and began submitting Season Four of
CPHS. On 19 November, I submitted a new chapter of Dad and Me,
Fifth Grade (24). Since then, I have completed and submitted 33
stories.
During that time, it was suggested that I should read St.
George's mutli-author series, Chronicles of the Red Riders, and
HumbledBareBoy suggested I might enjoy You've Asked for This by
Well Disciplined. I did.
Since then, I've continued reading and writing on a regular
basis. I just had a new one off story posted this morning
(which was originally supposed to be the first three chapters of
a new series, but I decided I didn't have enough ideas to run
with it). Next week (probably Thursday, because of the
holiday), I have the first chapter in a new series ([s]The[/s]
Harris Family Rules). I'm working on Chapter Six of it right
now, and have plans for at least two or three more.
In the past, when I read, there were stories I made myself read,
because they were written by friends, or members here, or other
authors who'd read and sent feedback on my work. I'm wondering
now if that's why I got tired of reading any spanky-lit at all.
That's not meant as a slur towards anyone. I do remember
enjoying a lot of stories by those authors, but I was still
making myself read things out of my wheel house (except for
Tristan, who I like more for the cheerful lechery of his
characters than anything), I'm not really into British school
tradition. I also find I like a very specific (and somewhat
narrow) type of character. I enjoyed and recommend the series I
mentioned above by Well Disciplined (like it so much, it was the
inspiration for Harris Family Rules), but I HATE his Sam series.
I quite literally find myself wanting to kill the kid's parents
and take him home. So I don't read those.
I"m mostly reading recommended authors, or new stories that seem
interesting for one reason or another. I'm trying to keep track
of the ones I discover. I'm also making new acquaintances (Well
Disciplined and I have had a reasonable correspondence, and he's
actually beta reading Harris for me).
I'm saying all this so you understand why I'm posting so many
story recommendations - some of which are nearly a decade old
now.
As for why I had my long dry spell/hiatus? I dunno, but do you
realize I currently have 9 boys in college, plus Nick, Perry and
Evan Tidwell, and others for whom I'm at least a father figure?
Maybe 8 years ago, I was just spanked out for a bit. (My older
kids certainly point out to Connor and Curtis who spoiled they
are, compared to how I spanked when THEY were kids... I actually
heard Griffen (my oldest grandson) complaining to Duncan (who's
currently living with us), that I spanked him more when he was
Duncan's age, and he didn't even live here.
Go figure.

It is great that you are writing again! ;D ;D
I am also enjoying the feedback (honest) on some of my older
works. ;D
