Christmas 2024
By: Jack Date: December 24, 2024, 12:30 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Just wanted to say we're having a happy holiday around here.
Last night was the grandkids' (also grandnieces and nephews and
my youngest kids) party. Sunday night was the party for my
comic store employees. Last Friday, we had more of a dinner
party with my brothers, sister, and other adult relatives.
Tonight will be for my adult kids who want to have Christmas
morning for their own family. Mikell couldn't get leave before
Christmas, Steve and Belle are visiting her parents tonight, and
we're expecting to see them tomorrow afternoon for a quick
visit, but a lot of others will be here tonight with various
wives, husbands, and children of all varieties (bio, step, and
even a couple of foster). Tomorrow morning is just for me and
the kids.
Of course, 'me and the kids' has a slightly different meaning
than normal, right this minute. While Nick has gone home for a
few days, Duncan is on his way home from a short visit with his
maternal grandparents (he's still not very happy with his
mother), and I have Connor and Curtis of course, but Liam, Van,
Colt, Leif, Kaden, Kenny, Devon, Craig, Chandler, and Billy are
all home from college for the holidays, John and Greg are here
for a few days off work, and Chance and Adam are both going to
stay here tonight.
It's a bit crowded, but that's much better than the days when it
seems so empty.

Yes, when you are used to having a house busting out at the
seams with people, being empty would be so depressing. It's
nice you still have a house full for Christmas.
Me on the other hand. I Like an empty house. My sister's nurse
is with her right now. Then tonight just her and me. Tomorrow
morning, just both sisters and me. We will exchange gifts. The
one sister will leave at noon to go see her Grandson, the
13-year-old football player, that makes reservations to get
grandma there every Christmas.
After noon, I will put a big pot of Chili on and we will be
eating chili for the next few days.
There can always be drop ins, but no one is expected.
Just the way I like it. I'll have time to watch some DVD's that
I am pretty sure my sister got me. Snack on whatever junk food
they got me. No candy this year. I am trying really hard to
stay away from chocolate. Difficult task, but I am trying. I
have already gained 7 pounds since Thanksgiving. My one sister
is trying to stay away from chocolate as well. She is trying
hard to get and keep her A1C down. This isn't going to be a
totally candy-less Christmas but a very reduced Candy Christmas.
I do wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS.
