       Re: Jan 18 Spanking Report

       ---------------------------------------------------------
This happened last month, and I actually heard about it last
week, but I keep forgetting about it when I have time to do
       updates.
Nick Mintz got (what might be) his first trip to the barn last
       month.
For the record, Nick is a bit younger than Kenny - he's still
       12. On the other hand, like his Dad and Joe (and even his
sisters for that matter) Nick is pretty big for his age - about
5'4" and maybe 115 pounds or so (lean, but a bit stocky).
As background, let me remind you that Mr. Mintz is a contractor
and does a lot of odd jobs and some construction work. He
specializes in remodeling. His family lives outside of town and
they own a decent-sized lot. They used to grow mostly hay, but
we were able to buy some land, then lease a bit more, and we've
been running a business (or two) there. For a number of years
now, we've had the Pumpkin Patch at Halloween. We grow
pumpkins, do haunted hay rides and run a carnival-type midway.
Considering it's only open about one month, it makes some good
money, and it gives us a way to get a lot of our kids some
       holiday money.
This year, we started something else. When we started the
Pumpkin Patch, we also planted Christmas trees. It takes 3 to
5 years to grow a proper-sized Christmas tree (depending on
weather, of course) so we planted 6 different plots over a
number of years. This year, we sold off the first plot, and we
also offered hayrides hot snacks, and had the Scouts set up to
sale wrapping paper, wreaths, and similar stuff.
This month, Mr. Mintz was responsible for the clean up. A lot
of the kids who worked for us (including older Scouts) came out
right after Christmas to do a lot of the major clean up, but Joe
and his siblings were left with a lot of the minor stuff (and
       paid for it).
And here's the spanking part - part of the clean up is breaking
up fallen branches and getting stuff ready to mulch. Nick was
allowed to take a hatchet with him to help in his work. He left
       it outside.
Now, as you can imagine of a contractor, Mr. Mintz takes good
care of his tools, and he's pretty serious about it. In this
case, the offense was much worse, because it was an edged-tool
that was left outside without safing the blade. Nick was called
out of the house, showed where he'd left the hatchet, then he
had to pick it up and take it to the barn.
Joe knows exactly what happened from his own experiences. Nick
had to undress and go over a bale of hay (covered with a
blanket, but a good platform) and hold onto one of the slats (?
horizontal wood bar) it was up against. He later told Joe he
got six strokes, but that was still enough to have him howling.
Joe opened up a bit in this situation. He mentioned both how
that strap feels like it's scraping the skin off your butt while
you're getting whipped, and how swollen and tender your cheeks
       feel afterwards.
Nick had to stay out in the barn (bare? - dunno) and clean and
oil the hatchet and put it away before he was allowed to go to
his room. Joe met him there, got him down on his bed and bare,
and put a cold, damp rag on his rear for a while.
Joe has obvious respect for that strap, but neither of us think
he was abused, and he says Nick wasn't marked (except redness,
though it was really red). However, Nick is his little brother,
and he is a sweet (though goofy) kid, so it's easy to feel bad
for him on a first experience like that. Thinking about leaving
a dangerous tool like that out, I have to admit he pretty well
       deserved it.

I would say yes. Nick probably stayed bare until he absolutely
had to put clothes back on. Straps tenderize your buns to the
point you don't want anything rubbing them. Since Joe just put
a damp rag on Nick's sore bottom, he knows not to rub it.
Yes, Nick deserved what he got, but I can still feel sorry for
him. Because when he says "Strap" I am imagining something
like a razor strop and those do feel like they are peeling your
skin off. A lot worse than a thick wide leather belt. Not sure
why, because they both look alike once the buckle is removed.
But I think it is because the strap is smooth, where the belt is
       rough.
They say that is why the lexan puts more fire to the buns than a
wood paddle. It is the smooth surfaces that causes the nerve
       ending to scream.

Aww, I like that Joe helped his little brother recover. I'm
trying to remember what I know about the Mintz family. Is Joe
the eldest? And is Nick his only brother? I suppose they're
       fairly close?
Sounds like a really hard punishment. Leaving tools out is a big
no-no though, especially if they have younger kids around or if
he left it in a place that could hurt someone. Although this was
on a much smaller scale, my dad used to get mad at me for
       leaving scissors on the bed.
I really feel bad for him though. Glad there were no marks!
Sidenote: I'd honestly like to read this as a story. It reminds
me of Dkellis's style of writing/kind of story. :)

Joe has shown me the strap, and it looks like a slightly
modified razor strop - it has a wooden handle, and the other end
(where the hanger usually goes) has been rounded a bit.
'Peeling your skin off' is pretty much exactly what Joe said as
well. He also said tender, but he said his butt felt swollen up
like an overfull balloon after a whipping.
I'd always kind of assumed strops were worse because they're
stiffer, but I guess smoother could be a possibility as well.

You're right about Joe and Nick - They have two sisters between
them, and they're each close with the closer girl, but they are
the only boys, they share a bedroom, and they do get alone well
       most of the time.
While there aren't usually younger children around, they do have
a lot of animals. The simple fact is, it's easier for the
person with an edged too be be careful than everyone else who
doesn't know if one is even around.
I'm not likely to write this as a story. I've tried it before,
and it's just very hard for me to get into the mindsets
involved, when I wasn't even there. And while I like Nick and
his dad both, I'm just not that close with either of them.
