yes, yes I did. While I'm not sure how I want to treat Zeke or
how he needs to be treated, I do know that I was extremely
annoyed with that stunt - aseptically because of how it effected
C&C - so I had no doubt that he deserved a full up spanking,
rather than just swats or something.

I know this is covered elsewhere but this sort of disobedience
is something more indicative of boys C and C aged. I think you
handled it well, especially with Zeke.

Thank you, David.
This is one of those times when I have to remind myself that
Zeke was raised without normal inmput or freedom. From what
he's said, there were times, especially when he was younger,
when he had nearly constant supervision, so he probably never
had the opportunity to do 'naughty' little disobedience like
this. Hopefully it'll take him less repeats than it did me to
learn why they're not wise ideas.

Guess I should have included this in the last post....
We're in the middle of a cold weather snap now. I think the
technical term for the last week has been 'cold as a grave
digger's toes.' It's been dry for the most part, so they
haven't been forced inside, but the last several days we barely
broke above freezing, so no one really wanted to be out long
anyway. Maybe some of the misbehavior has just been cabin
fever.
Yesterday was the first of the semester. Some of the boys have
been having some problems, so they're going to be on a more
strict homework folder. The basic idea is that we can't make
you be smarter or make you understand the work, but we can be
sure you're actually paying to the work and trying to do it.
Most of the boys have about about six classes they have to
document - writing down homework assignments, marking them off
when they're completed, and listing the grade when returned.
For some reason, this is a major freshman problem this year, and
it includes Scott Malone, Ethan Guthrey, Evan Tidwell, and also
Chas Tidwell.
Yesterday, when I left chat, I went to check the boys homework
folders. Ethan only listed two of his homework assignments. He
had two more assignments, and he'd written another down on a
piece of paper, but his last assignment hadn't even been written
down. It was a mess, and he knew what he was supposed to have.
I don't know why he'd do this - it had to be deliberate testing,
but why he thought I wouldn't follow up, I have no clue. I do
know he's been getting an attitude for a while now, and that he
can be stubborn and argumentative (which he gets from his dad).
The simple fact though is that this was direct disobedience and
a straight up challenge, so the two of us went to my office.
I've said before that Ethan Guthrey is a very late bloomer. He
has (finally) hit puberty, but he's still hairless. He has fair
skin, nearly black hair, some freckles, and he's about 5'4" and
probably a little over 100 lbs.
He was wearing a hoody over his school uniform. I chewed him
out about not having done his homework, and pointed out that
he'd been warned several times ahead of time. He didn't quite
backtalk, but he wasn't being submissive or trying to make up or
backtrack either. And then I told him to take off his shoes.
THEN he started getting upset and contrite. Since Ethan is 15,
I offered to let him undress himself. When he didn't start
after I told him twice, I started doing it for him
I got him out of his uniform and down to black ankle socks and
tee, then got him over my lap. He was complaining, which was
actually kind of funny, because he had been told several times
before what would happen, but he was still acting like it was a
surprise.
I gave him a fairly long, thorough hand spanking. Not
especially harsh, but enough to really redden his checks, and to
get him doing some squirming and a bit of yelping. Then I
stopped and got the small Lexan. I gave him 8 solid swats with
that, reminding him of exactly what he'd get next time he pulled
this crap, and that was enough to get some serious tears
flowing.
Instead of corner time, I had him do his notebook as correctly
as he could. He was fairly mad, but after he'd finished the
update, we talked a bit.. Some kids just don't understand that,
just because you don't think you're going to need algebra
doesn't mean you'll never need it. Other kids never quite learn
that there are a lot of things that you learn in school besides
the things they're supposed to be teaching. Anyway, I think he
actually did listen while we talked about that. He seemed less
mad about the whole situation by the time I let him dress
anyway.

So do you think since puberty has finally started with Ethan,
that it is the hormones that are causing this behavior? Since
he isn't used to those hormones, (as if any of us got used to
them) they can provoke attitude or enhance attitude he may
already have.
The other thing that came to mind. Since you have been away
(hospital) and with trying to catch up with everything. Is it
possible that he felt a little left out? Felt you were spending
more time with other boys and not enough with him? That
sometimes causes a boy to push things to get the attention back
on himself.
Just a couple of thoughts.

Well, with PJ changing his work schedule and going back to
school, Jake and Ryan are going to be staying over here once or
twice a week on school nights. To that end, we put them in the
extra college room for now, with the idea that we can use room
dividers to give them more privacy when the college boys are
home. We're not sure if we'll stay with that or not - Jake
especially would probably be happy to either share with Kenny
and Colt or to just stay in the bed fort, as long as it's only a
couple of times a week.
I had a talk with both of them ahead of time, then a brief
reminder after school yesterday, of what my expectations are. I
made it very clear that they know the rules, and that I felt
it's very important we got off on the right foot. Moreover, I
made it clear that, since Ryan is a teenager now, that he gets
the Red Maple, not the Tailblazer or even the big spoon, so if
I have to spank the two of theme, there's a good change it'll be
done in turns (which you may recall that the two of them hate).
So, last night the two of them were on their best behavior, had
everything done on time or even ahead of time, and both of them
were tucked in right on time.
Everyone else, older than C&C, were a hot mess last night. They
were running around and kept wanting to see Jake or Ryan. Kept
ignoring me when I issued instructions. Devon ended up getting
his bottom bared and turned over my lap for a pretty thorough
hand spanking. He was hardly bawling when I finished - more
like a few tears flowing and some of that loud, slightly damp
yelping, but it was pretty obvious he felt it. Kenny and Colt
were downstairs (so was Van, but Van wasn't acting up), but Liam
and Leif and Kaden all heard it (no attempt to be private), and
all of them seemed to be like 'oh, that's what you meant'. I
feel a bit sorry that Devon was the one grabbed after the
breaking point, but I noticed his brothers went out of their way
to let him know they appreciated their sacrifice (or maybe they
just wanted an excuse to check out my hand prints?) Somehow
gossip seems to break the speed of light, because Kenny and Colt
knew Devon had been spanked before I even got downstairs, and
they were in their shower together, which they don't usually do
in their own shower (room). I guess they didn't want to risk
provoking Dad any further.

Sounds like dads hand got quite the workout these last few
days... happy the others decided that after devons sacrifice
that they got the clue to behave...

Let's hope you're right, because the weather broke this morning.
It's now 50 F/10C and sunshiney, so the boys will be able to
get out for an hour or two after school today. Also, Curtis is
having some friends over for movie night this evening, then his
birthday party is tomorrow - that should give he and some
friends direction, and some of the other boys will be staying
elsewhere tonight, so that should shake things up enough to
break up the problem - cross your fingers.

So his brothers went to visit him/commiserate with him
afterwards? Which brothers would that be? I'm guessing Liam?
(I'm a little surprised you mentioned him. Isn't he a bit older
than the others? Or does he spend most of his time with them?)
Aww, I agree with kal that the weather must be a factor. Hope
Curtis has a great time this weekend! :)

Actually, Kenny, Colt, Devon, Leif, Kaden, and Zeke are all
basicallly one group, with Van and Liam kind of part of it.
It's not unusual to see Kenny and Colt naked in their room, or
Leif and Devon in theirs. We like pajamas around here, but only
as a comfort thing, and usually only in cold weather (sometimes
we'll turn the AC down in the summer and have a pajama party).
Most of the time they wear only underclothes - Kenny still
sleeps in a night shirt a fair amount of the time (often just
one of his big brothers' tees though he does have several
exactly like you're picturing).
There's a good reason for Van to have a downstairs room, but I
really wish I could move Leif and Devon back down, next to Kenny
and Colt, and maybe even let Zeke and Kaden share with each
other.
The point is, they're all good friends, and I'm fairly sure
that, even with all of them working to get ready for bed,
everyone had a chance to check out Dev's bum and give him a pat.
