       Jaded

Just watched the full moon rising behind the mountains. Jupiter
will be not far behind. I can see Saturn already.
But you know, given there are thought to be
2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 solar systems in the universe
with their who-knows-how-many planets and moons, I don't know
why I bother gazing at ours.
They say there's a partial eclipse tonight. I don't know what
time. If it hasn't started by the time I finish this bottle of
       gris I won't wait up.

Well actually the bottom right-hand sliver of the moon did
darken in the shadow of Earth before I went to bed.
Tonight, however, I've almost finished the bottle and no sign of
the moon. Jupiter is there in the east, but the moon rises
fifty minutes (?) later each evening. I forget why. It's
explained somewhere in the scriptures, and no doubt in the
       science books.
Leave the wise to wrangle, and with me the science of the
universe let be. [Omar Khayam or somebody like that, said
       something like that.]

By the way, in case anybody wondered, 1 who-knows-how-many = 2.5
       myriads.
