Kenny's a teen!
By: Jack Date: December 27, 2017, 4:38 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Well, not until tomorrow.
The weather has been crazy around here recently. We had some
heavy rain the past few days, and freezing temperatures this
morning. It's supposed to stay in the 40s tomorrow. That's the
worst thing about having a late December birthday.
We decided to head into Grapevine for the party. We'll have
lunch and cake at the Rainforest Cafe, and the boys will be
playing at Lunar Golf, which they loved last time. I'm sure
they'll hit Legoland, and they'll probaby be doing a little
extra shopping.
We'll also be taking some extra kids, but they'll be kept pretty
separate from Kenny and his guest - they just want to burn some
Christmas money.

Hope Kenny and everyone else have a good time. Having been to
Grapevine Mills Mall on numerous occasions I can imagine the
event.

I think remember the first time I went to Grapevine Mills. I
believe it was in 1997. Their theater had one cinema that
almost always run 'art house' movies. We went there to see
Suicide Kings, and arrived real early. Where the Aquarium is
now, there was a huge arcade. That was pretty awesome, and so
was the huge choice in places to eat.

Kenny did have a great time. He and his friends watched Captain
America: Civil War downstairs last night. I think they intended
to do more, but it was a long day for all of us, with an early
start on the day, and a late start on the movie. We did have
cake and ice cream after dinner (grilled burgers). Everyone was
arguing over who got to spank him, so I called Jeremy, who is
his oldest, biological brother. Of course, having an 18 year
old football player designated to handle your spanking might not
be too reassuring, but he survived.
At the mall, I was kind of in the hall, while the kids were
deciding which way to go. We were in front of Legoland, because
Kenny wanted to stick his head in and decide if there was
anything he had to have, before he did other shopping.
"Hey, Dad."
"Hey, Kenny."
"Do you remember when I was little..."
Even with a straight line like that, I managed not to make any
smart remarks - I just smiled.
"... and you brought me here for my birthday party?"
"Do you remember lying to me about your birthday?"
"No way!"
He totally didn't remember that, so I told him the story.
"Man, you must have had to spank me a LOT when I was a kid."
Once again, i ignored the obvious remark, but I assured him that
i hadn't spanked him for that.
"But yes, that was your seventh birthday, and I remember it very
well. We have pictures at home, if you want to look."
"Seventh?"
"Yeah."
"And I'm thirteen now.... That means I've lived with you almost
half my life!"
We figured out he was about 6 years and 10 months, and he's been
here six yeears and two months now, so around the time school
starts next year, he'll have lived with me for most of his life.
The best thing that happened yesterday is I found out he's not
embarrassed to hug his old man - even in front of his friends
and in public.

Aww . No 13 year old thinks they're still a little kid. Did he
get it harder from Jeremy than hed have got it from you?
