You know you're old when a adult You Tuber explains East and
West Germany and the Berlin Wall along with pictures of
Checkpoint Charlie in terms that make it clear that this is
       ancient history...

Ah, yes. 1960. I remember it well. I remember when Berlin was
       all fields. :(

I remember when no one had a television or a telephone. You
were lucky to have running water inside your house. If I
remember correctly, we didn't get water to the house until the
mid 1960's. It was still from a well, with an electric pump.
Toilets were outside in a house to themselves. Some were lucky
and had two holers. Ours only had one hole. But mostly us boys
used a tree. I remember three to a bed. Taking a bath in a
number ten wash tub out in the backyard. Yes in 1960. 1960
wasn't very modern. Oh! And this was in the Capital City of
       Indiana.

The Berlin Wall has now been down for longer than it was up.

A water pump? A well? You were lucky. When I was a boy we had
to walk ten miles and back every morning before school to fetch
       water from the nearest lake.
Trees? You were lucky. When I was a boy we had to plant our own
tree and wait for it to grow before we could pee.
Three to a bed? You were lucky. When I was a boy we had to
sleep on the ground outside in the snow.
You had a washtub? You were lucky. When I was a boy....

Berlin wall went up the year I was born and came down 28 years
later. Amazing the impact it had in such a short period of time

I took a class on German History in high school and the teacher
was "absolutely certain" that Germany would never again be
       united.
