       Last Night's Parties

I think I might have to expand to a third tent.
The problem is that I have such a huge spread of ages, but most
of them are contiguous. What I mean is, that while Connor and
Curtis are close to each others' age, they're well divided from
their brothers. On the other hand, Colt is in 8th grade at BCA,
Kaden is in 9th, and Van is in 10th. Even before he moved here,
Kaden was friends with both of them, as well as with Scott
Malone, who is also a freshmen, and whom he's none since they
were 3rd graders. The two of them have even made trips to the
office together from what I hear. Colt's best friend is his
slightly younger brother, Kenny, who attends public school.
Because they're so close in age, they meet and become friends
with each others' friends. All that makes it very hard to break
a party down into specific groups.
To start, yesterday was Wednesday. The maid service came, and
they did extra work for me. Daniel came here after the comic
order was done, and he gave Christmas' bonuses to the ladies.
Chris and Terry and Marcia and Marcus and Ryan went with us to
the North Pole Express yesterday, but Daniel and Greg and John
stayed here, and they finished the decorations for the party
(most of it we'd already done last weekend).
I had those same adults, along with PJ and a few mom's, helping
to supervise. We closed Van's room off, so the small dogs and
some of the cats would have someplae to go for (relative) peace
       and quiet.
C&C had one party, which was limited to their room, the play
room, and the dining room. Some of the ladies supervised things
there. It was more organized. All those kids had brought
presents, and they went under the tree. They got to take turns
picking, but the supervisors ran games and trivia and stuff to
decide what order they got to pick prizes. From what I saw,
they all had a good time, played some other games, then broke
down into smaller groups to circle around and keep things going.
Of course, most of them had had a busy day, so they started
conking out before it got too late.
The other boys were really just one party, with loose divisions.
We started out with the youngest kids down in the game room,
then the rest were outside. By late high school/college,
there's not the difference there is between 8 and 12, so it
wasn't too hard. We kept the food and drinks full, and left the
rest of it up to them.
I mostly stayed in the living room, which was kind of neutral.
I kept relatively quiet Christmas music going, but ended up with
something of a crowd, and we got into a book discussion - mostly
with my old friends and I catching up on what we've been
reading. I need to do an update on Garret Riley. I'm not going
to threaten him or do anything if he doesn't, but I told him I
expected him to be here, and he was, and I've told him that I
expect him back for Friday and Sunday nights as well. He still
acts pretty shy, and he was by my side most of the night, but I
       was okay with that.

Sounds like it was a fun night!
Try to get some rest for yourself.
