You are too quick for me today: While you posted, I edited my
earlier post and added your suggestions from the chat today.
Still not convinced by the Lamb Stew, but thanks for the
alternative that sounds a bit less dark.

Would "Bellwether" be suitable? Bellwether is the ram that leads
a flock of sheep and has a bell around his neck so that the
shepherd can know where the herd is going even when it isn't in
sight. In a wider sense, it's used as a synonym of leader or
trendsetter, and in politics it can be a region whose political
tendencies mirror that of a wider area.

NWO already has a story with the title "Bellwether" in the
       series.

Thank you for this idea, db, but Kat is right. I chose
"Bellwether" as a title for the story where Chris, the black
sheep of the family refuses to submit to his father's CP. The
young sheep refuses to follow the bellwether, and the father has
to find a way to reinstate his authority.
This time it is about the son making a decision (the dad, too,
but the main point is the son's dilemma). So maybe
"Hammelsprung" isn't perfect, because it refers to a grown up
sheep, but I still like the idea of choosing one door and
walking through it, thereby making it known to the public.
