Changes to BOTD effective 27 September 2021

Unless you have been under a rock, you have noticed I have been
very inconsistent in my BOTD responsibilities for the last
several weeks.
The truth is I am simply burnt out. I love BOTD but my pool of
ideas has run dry. I also do not have the luxury of privacy or
time as much as I used to. I have limited time to enjoy my
fantasy world and I have to spread things across several
activities. Also, honestly, BOTD participation is simply not
what it used to be. There are a lot of faithful participants
still out there and I thank you. Please keep playing. Frankly,
it is a bit discouraging to go through all of the effort of BOTD
and not have it receive much attention. I look in the mirror as
I type this. I know all of our situations have changed. I do
hope we all can at least look in on BOTD a little more often.
When I joined this group ten years ago (my goodness that's a
long time), I promised I would not go anywhere without giving
notice. Too many of us simply disappear or slack off without no
one knowing why. I guess this is my notice. I am not leaving
but I am cutting back - way back. At least as far as my "out
front" participation is concerned.
I have been in communication with Jack and Skater. Tomorrow
(Sat 9/25/21) will be the last time I post BOTD; at least as a
regular responsibility. Most know this but BOTD is Skater's
conception and idea and effective Monday he is going to be again
taking on responsibility for posting BOTD daily. It will be
like old times for those of us who remember old times.
The change is that BOTD will only post MONDAY through FRIDAY
evenings (USA times) which will be Tuesday through Saturday
using BOTD dating. BOTD is getting the weekends off. ;D
I will continue to support BOTD in the background. I will write
and format BOTDs as much as I can and supply these to Skater.
If a member sends me a BOTD then I will still gladly format it
and send it to Skater. I will still help Skater by sending out
periodic appeals for scenarios.
If you have a BOTD that you want to submit then you can still
send it to me right now and I will make sure it gets to Skater.
If Skater needs to change this then we will let everyone know.
That is all. BOTD brought me to Bransom and it has been the
highlight of my day most days for the past ten years. I have
absolutely loved my participation in the program but, as they
say, all things must come to an end.

Let me just say thanks to David and Skater (and Ivor and Kat and
others) for all the work they've done on BOTD over the years.
There are times I think this was the only thing that kept the
forum going, when I went through some troubles and hard times.

I was sorry to read your message Katz, but I can understand the
reasons for your decision.
There is no doubt that responses have dwindled in the last year
or so as various regulars have dropped out. I suppose in some
waus it is similar to how some of us have ceased to write (and
read) MMSA stories. There comes a point where it gets rather
repetitive and thus the interest and enthusiasm wanes.
Thanks though for your efforts and enthusiasm over the past ten
years.

Thank you Mr. Katz for all that you have done and do do here and
everywhere else. I had to use the "do-do" in that sentence. It
sounded so good. I have enjoyed your BOTD's and will miss them.
I miss just having you around as much as you used to be. I
used to see your comments everywhere I turned, including the
occasional email. But I do totally understand how our life
changes affect what we can do and not do. My sister moving in
with me, changed my online life tremendously. One, I can't sit
around naked like I used to do. That sounds silly, but it is
when I am naked, that Zynder comes out to play, which means
everything online, stories, comments, BOTD's, everything has
slowed down to a crawl. So I understand how your life has
changed drastically with having more people in and about. It's
difficult to impossible to live as we wish when others are there
to see it.
I understand how the well is going dry of ideas also. We would
think there are as many ideas as there are boys in the world.
Every boy being different would provide an infinite number of
ideas, scenarios and stories. But again, that isn't true. So
many things boys do, are the same. Yes it is unique to them,
but not to boys in general. Many of our responses to a BOTD
changes due to the smallest little nuisance of the BOTD, more
out of wanting to be different, instead of it just being the
same thing as before as anything else. It's the same with
creating a BOTD. You search diligently trying to find the least
little thing that will make this one different from the others.
I think that is why I like the stand alone photo BOTD. Each of
us, can find something unique in the photo that gives us a
different perspective on the story behind the photo. Of course
that brings us to the problem of finding photos that are useable
and won't get the board in trouble. We lose a gazillion ideas
for scenarios by not being able to use n a k e d photos. We
lose another gazillion for not using undie photos. We can't use
them of course. But it limits us to ideas. So I understand
your lack of ideas. Over so long of a time, you and the rest of
us have used up what we have. It's not that we have lost
interest as much as we have lost the newness of it all. It's
not fresh anymore.
I know you still get excited when something new does present
itself. That is evident by how fast you jumped on that BOTD
idea and story making a new story out of it. A very good one I
might add. So it's not that you have lost the desire to play
and have fun in our little world. That is still there. It's
very much there. You, like the rest of us, need NEW! We need
fresh. But after so many years, there just isn't much new and
fresh under the sun. Maybe that is why the great authors wrote
so few novels. Why the great painters, painted so few
paintings.
David, I only ask that you don't disappear. It would be easy
to do. Not get online today but get on tomorrow. Then it
becomes every two or three days and then it becomes once a week.
Before you know it, you barely check on a site you used to be
on multiple times a day. I have some of those. We all probably
do. Please don't make this site one of those. I actually keep
a laptop in my bedroom now, for when my house gets so busy with
people, that I love, but really don't want here all the time, to
use and play on by myself in my locked bedroom. It's not as
satisfying as using the one in my living room right out in the
open. But we have to do what we have to do. Maybe you can
carve out a little space where you can go to be alone with your
fantasy world. Come and play with us. You don't have to create
a BOTD, but at least play on them. That is why I like the stand
alone photos more than the scenario BOTDs. I can create. I can
create more than one story in my head for the photo. The
regular BOTD is more restrictive as to what I can do with it,
but not just a photo. Please take time to come and play around
with us. Maybe you can start designating a nap time at your
house, where you go to be by yourself and play. I don't know if
that is a possibility or not.
WOW! I have rambled on and on, like I do so often. I'm long
winded. Never learned how to edit what I say. I just say it
all. Remember to come play with us David. Don't let life rob
you of the fun of living your life. It's so easy to do with the
responsibilities that fall upon us.

Thank you for all your work, Dave (and the same to Skater and
all who work on BOTD). It's a pity, but if it's no longer fun,
it's better to take a step back before it turns into an
unwelcome duty.

I appreciate the kind words.
I am not giving up on BOTD. i am just not posting them any
longer. I still plan on helping Skater behind the scenes.
