Just finished It's Just One Period

Another winner,
IMO, in a new series (as yet unnamed) that continues the
sensitive and realistic story of Micah, Lily, and Uncle Daniel.

Yeah, Mackenzie has yet to get back to me on what to name it and
I didn't want to keep it on hold any longer.

I agree. Another winner. I liked your story very much too
David. Administrative question--I love the dark backgrounds.
Is there a way to add that icon at the top of pages too?
Currently, I have to scroll to the end, click the D, and then
scroll up to read. Hardly a deal breaker, but if the coding
isn't too difficult, that would be a great improvement.

Kier, thanks for the kind word on my story. Writing shorts is
actually hard. As far as the request to put the icon at the top
of the page too, I will pass that on to Flag. I am sure it is
possible if he has time to do it.

Flag's response:
Hi David,
I'm unlikely to change the layout. There's a reason those
site-format
icons are at the bottom - they are all changes that most users
would set
ONCE, probably from the index page or an author page if an
author, and
then browse the site in that mode for some time, so the idea
that you'd
continually need to scroll down to the bottom of a page,
especially a
story page with considerable length, to change the view is
rather
nonsensical. People would not normally change view randomly or
frequently. Adding site-format icons to the top of the page as
well, so
MORE stuff that EVERYONE would need to scroll past to reach the
start of
a story, is a non-starter. In any case, stories should be
readable in
dark skin as easily as default skin, reducing the need to
switch. If
they aren't then I need to tweak the skin generally, or authors
need to
take care if they have added special formatting that only works
well in
the default skin.
Feel free to copy the above in the relevant forum thread as an
official
response.

I prefer to do almost all my web browsing in the "dark skins"
mode, not just MMSA pages and stories. In Microsoft Windows 10
you can put your computer in that mode as follows:
High Contrast improves readability of the
display by applying a special system color scheme. The keyboard
shortcut to turn on High Contrast is to press the left SHIFT,
left ALT, and the PRINT SCREEN (PrtScr) keys.
You do this once to invoke high contrast mode, and again if you
ever want to leave it and return to normal mode. The effect of
this mode seems to me to be essentially the same as the effect
you get at MMSA by using the "d" option at the bottom of the
pages. It also works on other Windows 10 compatible programs
like Word or Excel. They all become easier to read.
And BTW, the "dark skins" mode at MMSA can be set globally at
MMSA by using
HTML https://malespank.net/MMSA_main.php?dark=yes
as your main URL to enter MMSA. The dark=yes part gets
propagated down into all the links on that page, including the
story lists and stories. (I think Flag alludes to this fact in
his explanation.)

I changed the title to the thread because we seem to be
discussing more than one of Mackenzie's stories.
There is a new one out - posted late yesterday:
"Fear and Reconciliation"
HTML https://malespank.net/viewStory.php?id=48639
The story is in no way WHASS and the author even provides a
disclaimer warning that the story depicts scenes of abuse. I
found parts of the story to be very triggering. The young man
is being introduced to CP as part of a relationship but it keeps
bringing up memories of childhood trauma.
The story is short but intense. It is well-written but,
admittedly, not for everyone. I would recommend at least giving
it a try.

Well, it doesn't matter. Adric taught me how to globally change
the entire browser to that format. But for the record, I am
unable to find a way to set it once and keep the changes for
future viewings.

"Can You Call It a Fight?" 4th "Micah" story
Post by David M. Katz » 24 Jun 2021 16:39
HTML https://malespank.net/viewStory.php?id=48821
This is the fourth story about Micah and his relationship with
Uncle Daniel. As a side note, each and every story can be read
independently although I highly recommend the entire series.
In this story our protagonist, Micah, gets into a fight at
school (can you call it a fight) and is suspended. His Uncle
Daniel spanks him for it. I hear you now, "That's not all that
impressive."
Ah, but not to spoil the story but the author deals beautifully
for the reasons behind the non-fight, Micah's emotions and
thoughts, and his inner feelings about his uncle. Furthermore we
get to experience more when Micah and Uncle Daniel go to the
victim's house so Micah can apologize.
This story is emotionally intense and will strike at the heart
of anyone who has ever had a deep personal secret.
