Dec 17 Spanking Report

First of all, let me remind everyone that we already broke the
ice for this month. It was Colt. It happened Friday (12/1) and
was reported in the BOTD Catching a Fever

With had another incident last night.
Early in Dec, Kim and Curtis Malone have an anniversary trip.
Once upon a time, all their kids, except the oldest girl, would
stay here when that happened. I've known them since Sept 08 -
over 9 years now, and I think I started watching them on this
trip in '09. And yes, we've treated each others kids as family
almost that entire time, including spanking authority.
This year, almost all the kids were old enough to stay home by
themselves. However, all of them had plans, and were going to
be in and out, so it was decided that Brandon should stay here.
That wasn't a problem.
Let me remind you that Brandon is 10, 11 in March. He's a
little young for Kenny and a litle old for Connor. He was
looking forward to Kline staying over, but Marcus and Marica had
plans of their own, so their boys weren't here Friday night or
during the day Saturday. He has no problem hanging out with
Kenny or C&C for a while, so Friday night was okay. Saturday,
he wanted to go do something. We talked about it, and a bit
before noon, he left to go see Billy Worley and/or Eli Marchant
(both 11). The one caveat was that he needed to check in if he
went elsewhere, and at 4pm, no matter what.
Around 4:30 or so, I called around to James (Worley) and Dan
(Marchant). He'd been both places, but all three boys were
gone. I called the Cowell home, but they hadn't been there.
All three of the missing boys came in about 6pm (I was about to
leave afternoon chat to get dinner for the littles). I tried to
send Eli and Billy home, but they wanted to spend the night.
No, that's not unusual - the new Marchant boys actually thought
I was Dean's big brother when they first met us (I'm pretty sure
Doug and Tristan have something to do with that), and Brandon
has known me practically all his life. I'm not that close with
Billy, but his father and I became quick friends, and I'm
honestly very good friends with his big brother as well. I told
them that Brandon was in trouble, and I was going to have to
decide if they were if they stayed.
They still stayed, probably under the idea that, if they were in
trouble and got sent home, they'd still get spanked, but not get
to spend the night as well.
Since Marcia had dropped off those grandkids, I took Brandon and
the boys to my bedroom, then separated them. I questioned them
apart, then together. Their stories basically jibbed, and I was
set to send them to the bedrooms, while Brandon got spanked, but
I wasn't quite comfortable with that. It took me a while to
figure out why, but then I called their dads to be sure.
Detour; they'd been at the playground when I couldn't find them.
Brandon and Billy both go to BCA. They'd gone to see if a
friend of Eli's from school was home. They'd gone to see if
Jake (Pj's little bro) was home. They'd finality ended up on
the playground at Sanger (Elementary). I made sure that Brandon
understood he was in double trouble, because he'd been supposed
to check in with me if he went anywhere but the other boys'
homes, and at 4pm, no matter what. That's what reminded me.
So, I called their dads and, sure enough, both boys had been
given permision to come to my house or the other boys house, and
Dean had included PJ or Glen, but both of them were also
supposed to check in before going elsewhere, though they hadn't
had a specific time. Both dads also agreed that, if I didn't
mean dealing with it, then their boys could sleep over.
I gave the boys a choice again, though I couldn't promise they
wouldn't get spanked if they went home. I had them line up and
I bared them, then put them in line against the wall (then
removed their shirts as well).
I left them lined up facing the wall, while I fetched pajamas
(boxers and tees) and the Tailblazer. When I got back, Billy
got to go first, then Eli, with Brandon having to go last. It
was a standard spanking, and all three of them were crying, and
it was starting to get hard, but none of them bawled. Brandon
came close, but he was in a pretty emotional state, since he
doesn't have to go last, and he did shriek a little at the end.
When all three were finished, I let them use my shower, then
they put on their pajamas, and were ready to join us at dinner
(I'd drafted Kenny and Liam when I'd got busy).

Knowing the consequences, and as easy as setting an alarm would
be... Do these boys have smartphones? But if not they must have
digital watches.

No, ten and 11 is a bit younger than many kids get smart phones
around here. As for watches, I didn't wear one often when I was
a kid, nor did i think of setting alarms when I did. That's
part of the reason i don't require to the second timeliness.
It's just very easy for kids to get distracted, and it takes
training to learn to schedule onsself.

I got a watch when I was 11. It was of course a dial watch.
Nothing digital back then. The first time I came home late I
set the hands back so they showed me getting home on time. It
worked that time. Next time, it didn't work. I got my backside
busted and never tried it again after that.

But, in defense of the kids forgetting to call in, if they did
have watches (at least one of them) there might be a greater
chance that the call might be made.
I would say that an adult will need to set the alarm before they
left the house, but if the instructions were, "when the alarm
goes off, you need to get to a phone and call me" I think there
is a reasonable chance for it to happen. Of course, Jack, I
totally understand that since none of these kids were yours, you
shouldn't have the obligation to provide a watch. Maybe you can
get a cheap digital watch and loan it out to a boy on an as
needed basis like this (if there are enough occasions for using
it, of course). I think all digital watches have an alarm of
some sort. You will need to set it, and explain how to turn it
off. Then, give it to the kid, (hopefully, it will fit their
wrist) and I bet they will call. At least you raised the odds
for it to happen, and the kid can't say they were not warned of
consequences for ignoring the alarm.

Yesterday was club meetings at BCA. I left a bit early, so
Kaden and I could go by the office and let them know he'd be
getting visits from the therapist during the day.
When we walked in, there was a young man, whom I judged as lower
high school age (about 14 to 16 maybe) (turns out he was a
freshman, but already 15). He was sitting over there in what
one wit called the 'hot seats'. He was looking firmly at the
floor and appeared to be slightly green. Then there was a
resounding POP! and the kid came about a foot off his chair. I
had barely noticed him at first, but when the pop echoed through
the office, him moving caught my attention. Several seconds
went by, there was another pop, and his whole body twitched.
I was waiting for the office manager to finish with someone, and
noticed the boy glanced at us, then glanced back and waved at
Kaden Kaden gave him a nod. A few more seconds dragged by,
then Mr. P's door opened. A pretty Hispanic boy of about the
same age came out. "Dylan, your turn."
The boy who had been waiting pushed hmself to his feet and
walked into the office.
The boy who'd already apparently been paddled walked over, got a
pass, and started to leave, then stopped to talk to Kaden. And
to me, since he's part of the book group. Turns out Greg and
Dylan are cousins, and the two of them act like brothers. They
get in a lot of trouble for horseplay. A lot of times they get
by with it, or get a minor punishment, but depending on where it
is, who catches them, what happens.... Anyway, even two swats on
slacks is hardly a major punishment.

Poor Dylan. I can imagine just how he felt. This scene was
really easy to visualize because I remember one very much like
it. In that case I was the boy sitting in what you referred to
as the hot seats, waiting my turn. The principal had caught me
that morning coaxing a stray dog into the building and he was
pretty unhappy about it. I was sitting there for ages where I
could be stared at by everyone. I was scared of course and
having trouble remembering to breathe. The scene looked a
little like Pushkin's MMSA Forum avatar of Blackie and Carrots:

I finally got my invitation to hear the rest of the principal's
lecture, and get my licks. I used that experience as the
inspiration for a story, "The Stray"
