       Thanks, but my experience didn't and doesn't need any feeling
       sorry for.  If that's the impression I gave, I didn't make
       myself clear.
       My parents were both extremely affectionate and supportive.   If
       I could go back in time and change anything about them, at least
       when I was a child, I don't think I would.
       IMO, punishment is not exactly the same thing as discipline, and
       it isn't meant to be pleasant.  While as "an adult boy" the idea
       of being cuddled and comforted after being spanked is desirable,
       it would seem to me to be a huge disconnect to expect, or more
       strangely, want that from the person who has just made you cry.
       Growing up, almost always discipline, meaning teaching, not
       punishing, moments were able to be handled with words.  When we
       crossed that line, retribution was swift and sure, but not the
       least bit abusive.
