Non-Family Family - These are boys whom I've never really
considered sons, but who are (mostly) fatherless, and who have
actually participated as part of the family in holidays, family
nights, and even vacations, based on a relationship with me as
much or more than with one of my boys (such as boyfriends).
All these boys are pretty much unofficial but with parental
acceptance, and usually approval.
Kevin 'KC' Craw - 15 Sept 94
Mike Guice
Bruce Joyner - 9 Oct 99
Chandler Hardy - 19 June 2001
William 'Billy' Kadlec - 27 April 2004
B - biological
A - Legally Adopted
AA - Adult Adoption
F - Foster (through system)
U - Unofficial
UP - Unofficial, with parental approval
UF - Unofficial Foster - This applies to Zeke only. He was
brought to me by the foster system, but he aged out before he
could be officially placed.
1 - Legally, I am considered Steve's biological parent. Yvonne
didn't put the father's name on the birth certificate. When she
talked to me about adopting him, what she really did was swear
out an affidavit that I was his father, and I didn't challenge
it.
2 - Jeremy and I had court ordered visitation, because I had
custody of (and later adopted) Kenny and Leif, who are his
half-brothers by their father. He is talking about going to
college here for at least a year or two, because he wants to
spend more time with them. At this point, we'll have to wait
and see what happens from there.
3 - We knew that Adam would be going back to his family, unless
his dad really screwed something up. That's why he and I have
always had a somewhat different relationship with the other,
younger boys. I only left him on this list, because it's easier
than trying to decide how to work him in, when I have no
relationship (beyond casual friendship) with his parents.
4 - I'm not sure how to define Kaden's placement. It started
out with Mr. P and Marcus calling me in, and ended with the
judge making me his foster parent while we tried to track down
his mom. When they did track her down, she ended up on
probation and wasn't allowed to have custody of him for now, and
everyone agreed it was best to leave him here, so it's kind of a
hodge podge.

I'm planning to expand this, and might be moving it outside the
forum, and will then work on some similar lists, though this
will be the most detailed, of course.
Take a look. Let me know if I skipped anyone, and what else
you'd like to know.

This is just the kind of information I have been missing. It
should make it much easier to figure out who's who. Thanks for
getting this started.

So that's 40 kids with 30 years (or 29, really) between the
oldest and the youngest. Wow!
I love the list, Jack! I don't know if it's possible, but I
would love to see a similar list ordered according to when they
became a part of your family. (So Steve all the way to the Marsh
kids (or is Greg the most recent? I can't recall.) That might be
tough for some of the others though, as they don't all have -
err, how do I put this - "a date of acquisition." Hahaha. That
might help us keep track when you say that Curtis is your "fifth
baby" or something like that. :))
Thank you for all the work you do to keep all the info straight
for us. :)

Great to have all the dates!
I guess you will add Emmet, Rhett and Ryder dates later.
I would like more details about Tommy and Donald adopting, but I
guess that will be talked elsewhere.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs

I have added the missing birthdates into the original post.
Tommy, Donald, and their new 'son' (or whatever) will be dealt
with in an upcoming post - hopefully this week.

I have added a list of terms to describe how the boys joined my
family to the initial post. I will be going back and adding
these in. There won't be much detail, since I have discussed it
all before, and it will be added again when we rebuild the
bios. For now:
B - biological
A - Legally Adopted
AA - Adult Adoption
F - Foster (through system)
U - Unofficial
UP - Unofficially placed with me directly by a parent.
Biological is fairly self-explanatory.
Adopted will usually be combined with something else.
Adult Adoption will also be combined with something else, but
will differentiate between cases like the twins, where they were
6 when I adopted them, and Mikell, where is was about 30 when I
did it. The Adult Adoption isn't a huge deal, but some of the
(young men) wanted the relationship formalized, and it does
protect their families when it comes to my will one day.
Foster - this is how I gained many of the kids.
Unofficial - this is mostly for a couple of the older guys, like
Mike and Greg.
UP - Unofficial/Parent - this is for parents who placed their
boys with me. Some of them ended up staying, some went back
home, but still stayed part of the family.
