2019 Holidays with the College Boys
By: Jack Date: November 25, 2019, 9:06 am
---------------------------------------------------------
I said in the Christmas post that none of the college boys will
be off before the 27th. The only difference there is if they
have classes that day or not, but it's pretty much the same.
All of them will be home for Thanksgiving, but not long before.
As for the Christmas vacation, there's a bit more variety, so
let's try a list this time to make it a bit easier.
11 December - Greg, Chance, Jeremy, Zeke
13 December - John, Jake Hogan
18 December - Mike, Noah, Barry, Johnny, Josh, Bryce, Ethan,
Parker
20 December - Mickey, Ryan
These are the dates their classes end. It won't make much
difference to Chance, Jeremy, and Zeke of course, but Greg is
going to enjoy a ski weekend with some friends before heading
home, and John is going to do the same. Jake Hogan has asked if
he can stay here for a while before flying home, since he hasn't
had a chance to visit old friends in around a year or so, and
I'm fine with that. Parker and Mickey both have long trips
home, so they probably won't make it until the day after they
get out of classes. And, of course, all this depends on when
their last classes are.
I'll update when/if i learn more specifics.

Ryan and Thomas were already here when we got home today.
Ethan arrived not long after we did - his teachers decided they
didn't want class anymore today than the students did, so he got
up and out of town early to miss the traffic. The UT boys
(Mike, Noah, Barry, Johnny and Josh, Bryce, and Blake and Cole
Cavanaugh) arrived about 3pm. Jake Hogan is having Thanksgiving
with us, and he arrived just before they did. Greg called to
say he's going to be here in about an hour. John, Parker, and
Mickey will be arriving between 7pm and 11pm, depending on their
flights.
Ryan, Noah, Van, and Kenny double checked the pantry and headed
up to the grocery store so they don't have to stress about it
tomorrow morning.
Most of the meat is either cooking or ready to warm up, and I've
pretty much turned it over to Noah, Barry, and the twins. They
are working with Zeke, Chance, and Liam to teach the next
generation how to properly grill.

We're getting a lock on when the college boys will be home this
season.
Greg and John both finish finals this week, but both are going
to be spending a long weekend with friends before coming home.
Greg should be home next Monday (16 Dec) and John the day after
that. Most of the kids get out the 18th. The UT boys don't
have to be out of their dorms until the 19th, so they've decided
to party with some friends that night and come home on the 19th.
Parker had considered staying to hang out with some friends a
day or two, but he doesn't want to miss the Tribal Party, so
he's coming home the 19th (and will probably go back a few days
early). Ryan finishes the 20th, and will be home either that
night or the morning of the 20th for the Tribal Party, though he
has to go visit Thomas' family (since they spent Thanksgiving
here). Mickey will be home the afternoon of the 21st. Jeremy
and Chance finish this week, thank goodness. With all the local
college kids having finals and studying, things have been a bit
tight at work the last week or so.
Oh, and since Jake Hogan gets out nearly a week before Bryce,
he's just going straight home this time. He says he'll try to
come back early to visit a few days before next semester.

It is nice when the nest fills back up - even if it is only
temporary. ENJOY!

Got a bunch of boys coming home today.
Parker will be the last one home. Because of the time change
(and because he didn't want to have to get up at ohdarkthirty),
his plane won't be landing until nearly 4pm. By the time he
gets his bags, gets his Uber, and gets through traffic, it will
probably be dinner time (which is good since we're having
chicken fried steak with all the sides). His mom is planning to
eat with us, so he doesn't have to feel guilty either way.
Ethan just called a few minutes ago to say that Chandler woke
him up a few minutes ago, so he's going to shower, and they're
going to load the car and get going. The main question is where
they decide to have breakfast, but they'll probably be on the
road before 10am, which puts them here by about 2pm, including
breaks for gas and to stretch their legs.
Mike, Noah, Barry, Johnny, Josh, Blake, Bryce, and Cole haven't
called yet, but they're going to be home on a similar schedule.
I know they were planning on going out with some friends and
having 'a few beers' last night (except Bryce and Cole, of
course, since they're still under age). On the other hand, it
seems like their dorms are closing this morning - I can't
remember if they said 9am or 10am, so I'm expecting to get a
call from them pretty soon saying they're on the way.

I need to say that the college boys are starting back to school
Monday.
Mickey has to be in classes Wednesday, and John actually starts
Tuesday, but John decided to delay, so he can Mickey can ride in
to the airport together. He had thought about going back
earlier, but he decided he was just too comfortable here with
all his brothers, so he's doing last minute. He has the same
room assignment and room mate anyway, so it's not a big deal.
I'm not looking at the calendar with all that information right
now, but I'm pretty sure the next boy doesn't leave until next
Thurday, which is Parker. He doesn't start school until 13
January, but he wants to get moved back into his room, then he
and some friends are supposed to do some stuff on Friday and
Saturday before settling back into the grind.
Of course, it seems like most of my boys right now go to UT, and
they don't start back to school until the 21st. They haven't
decided if they're going to wait until the 20th or leave maybe
the 17th or 18th and watch playoffs down there.
Greg starts back the 15th, and he flew home this year (because
of the ski trip), so he's planning to leave early the 13th.
Ryan doesn't start until the 13th, but he and Thomas have
already gone back (remember, they share an apartment, so it's
not like dorms). He's promised he'll come home to visit again
before the semester starts, though.
Ethan and Connor also start the 13th, and they're planning to
leave early this Friday (probably right after rush hour ends),
and spend the weekend settling in and catching up. (That's
Connor Joyce, of course, not my 10-year old... Just in case you
were wondering).
Yeah, I think that's everyone for now.
