       8/8/19 - Thursday Morning
By: Jack Date: August 8, 2019, 7:42 am

       It's a quiet morning. It's 79F/26C with a mild breeze, though
it is about 80% humidity, so pretty sticky.
The kids are outside playing whiffle ball and having a good
time. They've already done some warm ups. A lot of our usual
guests are still showing up (besides the ones who overnight
here, we have some kids who arrive as early as 7am, many by
about 8:30, and some who straggle in and out the rest of the
       day).
Liam took Devon to get his hair cut yesterday. I'm taking the
rest of the boys Monday, but Devon will be in football practice
starting that day, so he needed to get trimmed up before that.
I was actually making my grocery list, and I'm about to leave.
I try to have the menu done a week ahead of time, so I can make
sure we're keeping a good variety. We're now less than two
weeks before school starts (I do NOT understand starting on a
Wednesday, though I guess it is nice to ease the kids back in
with a short week). We're already nearly on our school
schedule, with everybody, including Van and Liam, in bed by
11pm, so they can get a solid eight hours (Van actually turns in
a bit earlier than that). Anyway, the point is that we're
sitting down to dinner every school night now, so we're making
fuller meals each night - takes a bit more work with the menu.
School shopping is done. We still have a couple of dental
appointments to go. Haircuts are Monday. I've already picked
up school supplies for those who have lists (they don't have
them for high school), and we always have plenty of extra of the
general stuff (pens, paper, notebooks). Now I think it's just a
case of enjoying the rest of vacation.

School started here yesterday, (Wednesday) and in Indy, a week
ago Wednesday. So my Nephews and Nieces are all back in school
now. One Pre-Kindergarten, so he is half a day. Another in
Kindergarten so he is a full day. The kindergartener was wore
out by the time his day ended. So I can understand why they
start on a Wednesday instead of Monday, so kids can ease into a
full day at school. Sometimes adults forget just how much work
school is on kids and how it can drain them.

Nice of Liam to help with Devon's haircut.
Does he still insist that his younger brothers get away with too
much and should get more spankings? ;D

ALL of the older boys think I'm going soft and spoiling Connor
and Curtis, but they also understand it's hard for me to treat
them a lot different than I do my grandkids. On the other hand,
I honestly think C&C are getting into less trouble than Barry
and the twins did at the same age (just for instance).
