I rarely sleep more than six or six and a half hours, and that's
normally broken by a bath room break or two. Last night, I
       slept nearly eight hours solid.
Yesterday was a great time. If you don't know, Sea World
doesn't just have the animal shows, but a water park (Aquitica)
and some roller coasters and rides. None of us got to do
everything, though we were all there a solid 11 hours. A few of
the adults came back with the smallest kids a bit early, but I
think they were still there for more than 9 hours. And while
they hotel is pretty close to Sea World, you still have to get
out of the park, get everyone together, load, travel, park,
unload, and get settled down, cleaned up, and tucked in. It was
after 10:30 by the time I got to lay down.
Chance and Garrett were both getting in the shower (we're
sharing a suite, so multiple bathrooms) as I started this, and
now we're about to leave for breakfast in the resorts cafe.
They have a big and pretty darned good breakfast buffet.
The museums open at 9 and 10 this morning, so I need to start
making sure everyone is up, cleaned up, and ready to go as soon
as I finish eating. I'm planning to be on the highway by 3pm,
to avoid rush hour traffic, and we're going to stop in San
Marcos for an early dinner (probably Cracker Barrel, since
there's bus parking nearby), so we can miss rush hour in Austin.
I should be back in Bransom by 9pm tonight, and home by ten.
With just a little luck, I can be in bed by 11pm, with everyone
       tucked in safe and snug.

Things went about as planned yesterday. I switched between the
two museums, just to spend a little time with everyone. The
kids all seemed to have a good time.
We were a few minutes late hitting the highway. Fortunately the
two museums are very close to each other. The thing is, there
Friday traffic started getting heavy before I expected it to.
Traffic was still heavy when we reached Austin, after dinner, so
we just took the express lanes (I hate the concept of those as
much as I do quick passes, but I will use them on occasion),
which got us ahead of schedule. The rest of the drive was pretty
smooth sailing, despite construction zones in three different
areas between Austin and Dallas (they've moved a bit, but it's
been going on for years now). We ended up back home almost
       exactly on schedule.
Chance had ridden over here with Garrett, and Garrett had ridden
with us to catch the bus, so they had to come home with us.
They ended up just sleeping here, and they had breakfast with us
       this morning.
We put out a breakfast buffet with bacon and sausage and
scrambled eggs and hash browns, so people had the option of
making burrittos or having a more regular breakfast. We have
plenty of Eggos and bagels and English muffins and hot and cold
cereals, so no one is going hungry.
We do have a Summer Movie Series tonight, but I've made it very
clear that we're not accepting visitors before 2pm. I've made it
very clear to the boys that we're going to unpack, put
everything away, do our laundry, and do any chores that need
doing to get us back on schedule. I thought we'd have to do
some with the animals, but the Licht boys did a great job of it,
and I need to find some little bonus to throw their way for
doing so well. The closest they came to making a mess was that
Larry and Matt left some pants and boxers on the patio -
probably dressed to come over and do chores, then changed to
swim trunks and forgot their clothes.

Do you have to pay to use the express lanes or is it free for
you, being a vehicle with multiple passengers?
Sounds like a nice vacation. Now time to rest and enjoy being
       home!

You have to pay - if you arrange ahead of time, you can get a
discount for multiple occupancy, but that's offset by oversized
       vehicle charges.

There were a number of highlights of the trip this week. Some
of them were just visiting places. We planned this one out a
bit differently than we have in the past, so we were doing
different things than in the past - and since it's been a while
since our last San Antonio trip, this was a lot of fun for
       everyone.
Another really nice thing is that I have so many older kids
these days - including parents in their own right - I'm able to
leave everyone else in charge of the kids, so I can move around
and spend time with different people without leaving anyone that
       needs supervision without it.
One of the things that I would have mentioned as it happened, if
I'd had time to get online, is the people who weren't able to
join us. Adults often have things going on in their own lives,
so I consider it really special when they're able to join us for
something like this. While there were some who weren't able to
get a weeks vacation, Steven and Troy and Caleb and Tracy were
all able to get of couple of days off and join us for at least
part of the week. And while Tommy couldn't get free at all, his
husband, Donald, and their teenage son, Darnell, were able to
come down Thursday morning, go to Sea World with us, then they
stayed overnight Thursday before heading home.
While those people are all close enough that I'm able to see
them on a fairly regular basis, it's great to see them on
something that's not a major holiday, where we can be a bit more
relaxed and laid back. I just wish Troy and I had been able to
find a bit of privacy for a spanking. He's between boy friends
right now, and we did talk enough to agree to make time for him
to run home for a visit sometime soon.
