       Organizination
By: Jack Date: October 26, 2017, 5:10 am

       Just a quick question.
One of the problems I have with getting the new forum started is
that I'm not sure how best to approach the entirety of Bransom.
With all the kids around here - my sons, and grandsons, my
nephews, grandnephews, their friends, and my friends and their
kids. How do I keep track of all that? How do I keep it
organized, so what's going on it clear, and so I can keep track
       of who's getting spanked.
       Does anyone have any ideas?

       Suggestion.
A Bransom Family Tree. It might end up looking more like a vine
than a tree, but it is one way to keep things, or people or
       events organized.
I don't know how or if it is even possible to translate that to
a forum. I know I couldn't write the code necessary to do it.
I can see it in my head though.
On front page, or page 2 or whatever. Where you want the forum
       links.
Have a tree, with all of it's branches. Each family getting a
branch and each individual getting a twig off the branch. Then
have a link on their leaf, that leads the reader, poster, admin,
to the page of that person, event, activity or whatever.
The multiple relationships of each person would be defined on
the Bransom Tree, and their info would be on pages within the
site, that can be reached via the link on the tree.
There can be a scout branch with each scout having a twig and a
       link leaf.
Then as people come into your life, you add a twig on the tree
for them and when you post something about them, you create a
link leaf for them on their twig, so you and everyone else can
find that person easy, just by going to their twig and leaf on
       the tree.
The actual posting would be on pages, within the forum, but the
method to organize them and find each person, would be through
       the tree.
Like I said, it is just an idea, from my many years of doing
family genealogy. I don't know how practical it would be for
you in your situation or even if it can be done.

I am a fan of charts, lists and Excel work sheets. I see an
organizational chart (similar to what companies use) to show who
everyone is and the relationships. Like with Z's suggestion, I
am not sure how this would translate to a forum.
As far as the spankings, I suggest a format like the former
Spankoramas. It doesn't need to be a 'competition' but that
format listing name and age followed by a description works
well. The monthly recap you used to do worked well too. The
spanking report could reference the chart/table/list/worksheet.

I agree with Zyngaru and David about the desirable format, but
in the event that the graphics proves to be too complicated to
represent then there is an alternative.
Show all the information in outline form, with each successive
generation or other form of "removal" indicated by an additional
       level of indentation. For example:
       Jack
       Family
       Friends
       Employees
       Other
(An outline form also results in a tree structure but without
the necessity of a graphical representation.)

I liked the way you used to do it.
In the blog, the things that you are doing day by day.
In the Anecdotes, it was very useful to have the Spankorama
because there was like a resume of what was happening and if
       several kids were involved.
In the Biographies, you can have the families, their relation to
you and explain more about each of the kids.

       :)
       Thanks a lot
       Hugs
       Leti

Like Leti, I think the way you used to do it is fine. :) I will
say though that I really appreciated those lists you used to
make of your kids. You listed them according to birthdays and
height, I think? I found the birthdays one really helpful. Maybe
you can do something like that again in one post and then just
slip in spouses and kids next to (or underneath and indented)
       some of them.
       So...
       Steve (birthday)
       - spouse: Belle
       - kids: Griffin (birthday), etc.
       Mikell (birthday)
(All the way down to Noah to Colt to C&C)
It would also be nice to have a list of your kids according to
when they became a part of your family (so Steve until the Marsh
kids), but that's probably really hard to determine for some of
       the kids.
You also had a thread called "My Older Boys" early on (from
Marcus until Steve, for all your kids) with a short summary of
their bios and how they became a part of your family all on one
page. It might be too much work, but I'd love to see such a post
for the whole family. It might be helpful/interesting for
newcomers to have all that info organized in one thread/page. :)
Thank you for all the work and the updates, Jack!

Just like in the BOTDs, I am going to agree with everyone :)
The one thing I would suggest is that since you are hosting the
forum on your site, it might be easier to have it link to pages
on your site. So I would suggest that you have some of the
"list" topics as pages on your site, and the forum link to them.
I think it would be easier to create the format you like in
html than in the forum markup language. Like others I would
love to see lists of the boys and their ages. And a while back
you previewed some static pages for bios that I thought were
very good. And like Leti I really enjoyed Anecdotes, so hope it
       survives the changes.

Thank you - tht's the kind of information I really need to hear.
It makes prioritizing a lot easier.
