5/5/2019 - Prom and Formal
By: Jack Date: May 5, 2019, 9:58 am
---------------------------------------------------------
This was the big weekend for my senior boys.
I'll talk more about Zeke elsewhere, but he's included in the
senior class this year, and he went to their formal dinner.
Remember, BCA is basically an Evangelical school. While they
aren't aligned with any specific denomination, there are
certain 'Conservative Christian' rules they enforce, like no
gambling and no dancing. Because of that, they don't have a
prom. What they do instead is have a formal dinner, where
everyone has a chance to dress up (most of the boys don't rent
tuxes, but everyone dresses nicely). It's a nice banquet, a
chance for them all to mingle, and then they have a 'class
presentation' with a lot of slides and some 'awards' (mostly
jokes, but some can be surprisingly touching).
That was Friday night. Of course, strictly coincidentally, the
Family Center always has a dance party that evening. There's
always a nice crowd from BCA.
Last night was the Prom for BCA. Parker is my only graduating
senior there this year, but Joel has been living with us nearly
a year now, and I've known him about 8 years, so he seems like
one of mine.
I don't really know much about Joel's girl friend. I do know
that the two of them looked very nice together. She's tall
(about 5'9"), though not nearly as tall as him. He wore a
traditional black tux with a 'lite watermelon' vest and tie
(traditional, not bowtie) to match the accents on her dress. I
did take a ton of pictures and Dropboxed the entire mess to his
parents.
Parker went with Sean. After a lot of debate, Parker wore a
black tux with a burgundy bow tie, while Sean wore black pants
and bow tie with a burgundy and black jacket.
Prom and graduation are two nights when I have a long talk with
the boy, review my expectations, tell them how much I trust
them, don't give them a curfew, then stay up all night worrying
myself to death over them.
Anyway, everyone had a great time, and they all survived to come
home, so I'd say we had a good weekend.

BCA ‘s formal dinner sounds just as fun as the other...
Happy they both had fun and enjoyed their last school hurrah...
Hope dad didn’t have to stay up to late worrying...
I bet they all looked amazing 😉

I would say that all my boys are good looking in one way or
another, but there's a chance that I might be a bit biased :)
