Invitation to Fuehrer of DEN
By: david090366 Date: September 9, 2014, 6:24 am
---------------------------------------------------------
President Marco Rubio of the Confederate States of Redneck
America has invited the Fuehrer of DEN to Richmond to engage in
high level talks between the two leaders. Speaking to the press
Rubio confided has a expressed keenness to work closely with him
to make the bilateral relations a "defining partnership" in the
21st century. The President says he feels it is in the intrest
of both nations to work together for a safer, more secure,
world.

Emperor Maximus agreed that it was necessary for the states to
meet, and discuss matters of varying importance. When asked by
the press what Maximus had on the agenda, he simply said that
one subject would be space. He left it at that, leaving the
people to wonder what else he'd do. The plane carrying him left
Hochburg earlier that day, with a fighter escort of five Racers
and two Inteceptors.

As fate would have it mother nature had decided not to comply
with the President's wishes. It was an overcast, rainy day in
Richmond. A red carpet had been rolled out to where the Emperor
of DEN's plane would land and the 3rd C.S. infantry regiment
stood by as an honor guard. At the end of the red carpet a limo
waited to take the leaders to the executive mansion. The
president looked the whole affair over once more to make sure
everything was right. The soldiers looked sharp despite the fact
he knew they had to be miserable in their rain soaked wool
overcoats.

DEN-1 wasn't that big of a plane. In fact, it really was a
modified V-1 Sparrow, painted white, with gold lines streaking
down the sides, and windows adorning the edges. It was almost a
living palace, and it still had the incredible speed of the
original bomber. When it flew, the wings would sweep back, like
an elegant bird sprinting through the air. Upon slower speeds,
it's wings would be straight. Such was the configuration for
this moment, as the plane had landed.
The plane landed right on time, and Maximus began his departure
from the aluminum aviation machine, carefully stepping down the
steps. In front of him, and behind him, were SS guards, dressed
in ceremonial battle gear; still carrying their battle
equipment, but now ceremonially dressed. Maximus showed no worry
in the rain, and felt pity for the soldiers forced to stand
guard right there. And they were amazing. So elegantly poised.
He would surely report this amazement to the president. Wasting
no time, however, he walked forward, smiling at the men, and
nodding, his pointed officer's cap moving with his head, and his
leather black trench coat swaying.

As the Emperor disembarked the honor guard snapped to attention
as if one person. President Rubio then walked forward to meet
the Emperor. He was careful not to move to quickly, he didn't
want to seem overly eager. Rubio knew this man would be watching
his body language as well as listening to his words, such was
his reputation. Meeting the Emperor half way Rubio gave a half
bow then extended his hand in greeting, "Welcome your highness
to the Confederate States of Redneck America."

"President Rubio, is it? It is a pleasure to meet you in person.
A man like you should be proud to be the leader of such a
massive, diverse nation with such a rich cultural history."
Maximus said, smiling. He took the president's hand, and shook
it gladly, then turned to face the honor guard, and then back to
the President. While not regarding himself as a man worthy of
this much attention, he still liked it. "I must say, your honor
guard here preformed wonderfully, regardless of the...
Impractical weather. If I had a thousand regiments disciplined
like these here, I could take the entire northern seaboard just
by presentation alone!"

President Rubio thanked the Emperor for his kind words, "Not
only is military service obligatory in our nation, it is a proud
tradition. Most men in our nation can trace a history of service
to their nation all the way back to the War of Northern
Aggression, or further." As the two leaders reached the
limousine waiting for them a Secret Service agent quickly opened
the door. Indicating the open door Rubio said, "After you your
highness.", and quickly slid into the rear of the car beside
Maximus. After both were in the automibile sped off to the
Executive Mansion.

"President Rubio, I must thank you for this wonderful
presentation, as well as your respect. I do not feel that I
deserve such respect from a man like you." Maximus said, getting
comfortable in the limo. Before they had entered the vehicle,
Maximus had tipped his hat to the soldiers, showing his respect
for what they were doing. "Just like yours, our military is
highly respected, and the best soldiers are considered
celebrities. Still, some of them escape notice."
At that, Maximus winked, smiling. He unbuttoned his trench coat,
revealing a military suit underneath. On his right chest, above
the flag, was a WW2 plane, the F6F, with the words 'My Baby'
written in gold cursive letters beneath the blue plane. "I'm an
old fighter Ace from the 70s and 80s. But my favorite planes to
fly were WW2 planes. As such, I requested that my plane for the
badge was the F6F, my favorite plane. And the name of my
fighter, a Mini, is written underneath it. How about you? Any
military experience?"

Hoping to shake the dampness Rubio removed his overcoat laying
it beside him. "Miserable day", he began, "I served in the army,
your highness, made it to the rank of Sergeant First Class
before my tour ended. Outside of a few brief deployments to hot
spots I never saw any real, extended, action. Although military
service is required in our nation, it's not something you do
because you want to be famous. You do it because it's every
father's son's duty to protect this nation. Usually, if a man is
found to be deliberately avoiding service, he will be shunned by
his community. Cowards are not viewed kindly here."

"I see. In our country, however, while military service is
compulsory, it is only to the point of actual boot camp. We only
ever have about... 5 million soldiers in the entire army that
are actually armed and equipped. We have about maybe, behind
that, 20 million perhaps in trained, yet not needed, soldiers
who are simply sent back to their jobs, ready to be called into
service." Maximus said, and looked outside. "Is it always like
this? Our weather is much different than this..."
