DEN Military and Technological advancements

In Secret
Scientists in DEN recently began working on developing
Thermobaric weaponry with a yield able to destroy a mile with
the fireball and explosion, with a maximum destructive distance
of seven thousand feet with the shockwave. While looking into
this weapon, the scientists realized that an efficient delivery
method, besides the XB-1 or the Challanger aircraft, was needed.
It was decided, then, that they would equip this as a cruise
missile, or as a MIRV ICBM, capable of intense reentry speeds.
They also began work on a new type of body armor/exoskeleton:
TALOS. Designed to hold a rheoric fluid in the chest area, as
well as a bullet resistant synthetic fabric, like Kevlar, to
help stop the bullets, with thin plates of metal to block vital
organs. Using sensors across the body, it would also monitor and
report on the conditions of each soldier, as well as contain a
homing beacon for HQ to zero in on. Each helmet would have a
small computer chip in it, which would power all the basic
programs as well as the personal radar. On the back would be the
battery, protected by metal and Kevlar.
For their tanks, the DEN scientists began making a type of hard
kill system which would destroy anything from 7.7mm to large
artillery rounds using a revolutionary directed energy system
which would be faster than all the current hard kill systems.
Using this technology, they also plan to use this as an
OFFENSIVE weapon, which would heat up the skin using the
directed energy to drive the enemy away. This would be
implemented on tanks and fortresses. On tanks, it would be small
and sort of radiate outwards. In fortresses and cities, it would
be on trucks. The trucks would be armored, with a .50 caliber on
the top, as well as shrapnel charges all around it. In cities,
it would use the taser system instead.
Public
DEN has begun researching nuclear fission and fusion technology
for use in the energy department. They report that fusion will
not likely be a logical energy department for a VERY long time,
but they will research it nonetheless. So far, progress is good,
with the first atom split.

The first thermobaric bomb was built and tested, already a large
size and about 15,000 pounds of fury. Most of it was built with
fuel and conventional explosives, as well as a mister technology
to turn the fuel into a gas. When it was tested on a bunker,
they used large and powerful cameras to capture the video of the
explosion. What they found startled them. Literally, the gases
penetrated the bunker and then tore it apart when it ignited,
sending concrete flying. The prisoners used were incinerated,
the ones away from the blast shattered. A tank was even flipped
over and charred. They instantly hit mass production.
Based on that initial result, they started designing a large
conventional Ammonal bomb, which would produce the most powerful
explosive for its size. Planned to be 20,000 pounds, it would
create a blast equal to a mile and a half in size, using a large
15 foot fuse to detonate in the air. The XB-1 is currently being
retrofitted to hold six of these monsters.
In other words, the new APS system and directed energy weapons
were tested, and proved to be successful beyond thought. The APS
had destroyed all targets, including multiple targets from all
directions. Artillery was literally destroyed before impact.
New tanks are being developed, called Baneblades, and are
supposed to be designed to withstand a nuclear shockwave, as
well as a small amount of the fireball's heat. They are also
being designed to be radiation proof, and have the a transport
capacity of ten people, and a turret with a 150 mm cannon. It
will also have other weapons as side sponsons and secondary
turrets, as well as anti air capabilities. Combined with the
APS, after nuclear fallout, it would be invincible.
The nation's first nuclear reactor has been built, and it has a
startling efficiency. Going hand in hand with this is the first
nuclear detonation, about the size of 10 Hiroshimas. An order
has been put in for a massive 200 megaton thermonuclear weapon.
ETA is unknown. Along that line, the first nuclear artillery is
being developed, as well as nuclear depth charges.
All computer defenses have been amped up considerably, with near
impenetrable firewalls on all military satellites. News about a
deadly satellite being developed has circulated, but not much is
known of this, except that it will be offensive.

The first Baneblade hit the production line, and was big enough
to warrant its own name: Titanfall. It literally was so heavily
armed and armored that it's crews joked it could fell a Titan of
mythical proportions. Armed with side sponson 75mm cannons, it
is truly deadly, and although it hasn't been combat tested, it
has been able to render heavy armor incapacitated, with
buildings destroyed.

The Nuclear Depth Charge, known as the ASW-1, and lovingly
nicknamed Blue Whale, was tested in the sea earlier today in a
massive display of firepower. The reports numbered in the
kilotons, with the maximum yield being 20 kilotons. The water
bubble it created in the air rose nearly a mile high, spraying
radioactive water everywhere. It was delivered via mortar, and
used a ballistics shell casing to fire. Alternatively, it could
also use missile launch, or simply dropped into the water. While
there have not been any reports on the actual FIELDING of the
weapon, the military plans to not actually use it in battle
unless otherwise needed, as collateral damage could be immense.
Along that lines, the nuclear artillery was successfully tested,
being fired from a large, tank trailed 230mm artillery cannon,
with a recoil shield. It had an explosion of 15 kilotons, making
it a very deadly weapon. The shell traveled very far, being
first accelerated by initial ballistics charge, then using a
rocket propellant to travel farther.
While being towed by a tank (it uses a flatbed to travel), plans
to make it into a Self Propelled Gun, or SPG: SU-230.
Alternatively, if put on a rail car, it could use a higher
charge. Plans to utilize it as a Railgun, with a magnetic
coating around the shell itself to accelerate it faster, are
being drawn up. Currently scientists predict that the actual
Railgun will be put on a specially made rail car.
Underground testing of nuclear weapons with yields of 20
megatons or larger are being conducted, with the goal being a
massive 200 megaton bomb. Delivery of such a weapon would have
to be conducted via a Thriller, XB-1, or possibly a massive
ICBM.
For the tanks, adaptive paneling is being researched, which will
hide a tank from radar by changing it's radar shape, as well as
infrared shape. The entire process is complicated, but people
believe it can be done. Along with this, MBTs have been
outfitted with heat sinks that trap and contain heat, before
releasing it in a massive burst after a set amount of time,
hiding it from thermal imaging very well.
