       Seki - "My Lord--"
Hokada - "I have eyes, damn you!"
Seki - "We have partial weapons, My Lord."
Hokada - "Find their command ship. I want the honor of restoring
glory to House Meiji by personally destroying their commander."
Seki - "We won't need to find them, My Lord. They're closing on
us. They must've realized we restored partial power to weapons."
Hokada - "Helm, come about and let's face our enemy. Order all
remaining ships to use whatever methods necessary, but on no
account must any Trekkie ship survive."
Seki - "My Lord, its too late. The Serdari contingents have
       already surrendered to the Trekkies."
Hokada pounded his fist on the armrest until his hand throbbed
with pain, which didn't nothing to abate his rage at the
Serdaris. What kind of allies are they if they surrender to an
enemy who is still inferior despite their recent, fluke
victories? The Xie Council would hear about this, and likely
there would be hell sent to the Serdari government soon
thereafter. The Tactical Samurai directed his attention back to
the viewscreen, which showed the Trekkie command ship staring
them down with shields raised and weapons locked on.
"This is Captain Arellia Dourgas of the ISS Caesar Augustus to
enemy commander. Your relay is destroyed and your main ally has
already surrendered. If you power down your weapons, I will
guarantee you fair treatment and comfort as our POW until the
war is over. If you choose not to accept our hospitality, then
       you will be destroyed."
Seki looked at Hokada, terrified. Hokada gnashed his teeth and
pounded his armrest with his other hand, making it hurt just as
bad. He rose from his seat, withdrew his katana from the
scabbard and held it aloft, defiant. A single word was sent back
on the open channel. That word was "banzai!"
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Comm Officer - "Captain, I think you just got brushed off."
Captain Dourgas was not surprised. Of all the Great Houses they
had faced in battle since the war started, House Meiji was the
one that had the apparent death-wish. It was tragic, but there
was little that could be done except to send them on their way
to the afterlife, and mercy to the other Houses who had been
cajoled into the war with them. Then they got the reply that no
       one expected.
       "Banzai!"
Comm Officer - "What kind of reply is that?"
       Dourgas - "I don't know, Lieutenant. Not the reply I would've
       expected, though."
Tactical Officer - "Captain, I'm reading an increase of power to
their impulse-drive. They may be about t-- Captain, they're on
       collision course!"
Dourgas - "All power to forward shields. Everybody brace for
       impact!"
Seconds ticked by before the expected impact. The ship shook
violently, bulkheads exploded off the walls exposing frayed
cables, and several aft stations exploded, sending crewmen
flying backward into the railing. Dourgas went down hard and as
her vision threatened to go dark, she glanced up at the ceiling
dome, expecting it to implode and suck the atmosphere out into
space, taking her and the rest with it. Her last thought was of
her Romulan lover and her childhood crush, the former Trekylon
       emperor.....
....she heard voices distant around her as she slowly regained
consciousness. Then one voice rose above the others because it
was much closer. Struggling to pull herself back from the abyss,
she opened her eyes and saw Silovok looking down at her warmly.
       Dourgas - "Am I dead?"
Silovok - "Thank Erebus no. This would be the worst Vorta'Vor to
ever visit if such were the case."
She sat up slowly, becoming aware of a pain in her ribs. Her
head throbbed as though a herd of Argolian mastadons had danced
the can-can on her skull. As she assessed the rest of her
injuries she was thankful her legs were still whole, considering
that her chair lay only two feet from them.
       Dourgas - "What happened?"
Silovok - "Good thing you put all power to forward shields. The
Xie ships launched themselves into a desperate kamikaze run.
Your shields absorbed most of the impact energy. though you did
       still suffer damage."
She shook her head and looked around, "Who's injured aside from
       myself?"
Silovok - "19 crewmen from Decks 7-10 suffered minor injuries.
Four crewmen on the bridge suffered concussions. You lost both
your helm and tactical officers, Arellia."
Dourgas - "Dammit. I hadn't even gotten to known their names.
       Did you get word to--?"
Silovok - "We already sent the subspace message on scrambled
frequency to Michael I. I used a human phrase...'the door is
wide open'. Did I say that correct?"
       Dourgas - "You did."
