Alwyn seemed to consider this and nodded in agreement.
Alwyn - "There is an arms dealer and smuggler I used to deal
with while a member of the rebel cadre. I still deal with him,
but now more for information than weapons. His name is Jans
Delbruk. He can be a crabby old fellow even on the best of days,
but if you catch him at a pub, you can generally get business
from him. Otherwise, don't expect him to even remember you're in
the same room once you say hello."
Armos - "Where is this pub located?"
Alwyn - "The independent world of Cassio. They have also
petitioned the empire to join as a commonwealth. Unlike this
system, the empire has taken more notice of them because of
their close proximity to the Greater Empire of Showa and the
United Systems of Columbia. The pub is called Dog-and-Pony.
Rather odd name for a pub if you ask me."
Armos - "Thank you. You can be sure that I will get the word out
about you and Ameriga. You will get your hearing. Now, the only
problem I have left is securing a shuttlebus to Cassio."
Alwyn - "My people will take care of that for you by the time
       you return to the surface."
       Armos - "This is underground?"
Alwyn - "Best way to keep sheltered from rebel scouts. But rest
assured, you did arrive at your destination. Anyways, I'll have
my man Godfrey escort you to the surface entrance, which is
located in a sewer underneath the city of Dondras, capital of
this world. I doubt you would want Coraline to travel with you,
seeing how she's less than amicable."
Armos - "Amen to that. Am I to be drugged again?"
Alwyn - "No, but for security reasons, we will blindfold you
before allowing you to leave. At least this way you won't suffer
any hangovers from the gas. Are you fit to travel?"
Armos - "Not really, but I need to contact my supervisor with
this news and I can't waste time."
Alwyn reached into his robe and pulled out a device smaller than
the standard communicators used on Imperial starships. He spoke
into it, calling for Godfrey to come with the blindfold. Armos
readied himself for yet another deep-space journey, hoping that
this would be more uneventful than his journey here.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Two Hours Later, Dondras, Ameriga
Armos was released from the blindfold after enduring a journey
that was, on the whole, more pleasant than his journey under the
not-so-gentle graces of the woman Coraline. When he looked for
Godfrey to thank him, however, he found no sign of the elusive
fellow anywhere, not even footprints. he scratched his head in
puzzlement before realizing he was at the very entrance to the
cavern network....except that the entrance was also not there.
Must be a bunch of Houdinis in there, to be able to even hide
their entrance from prying eyes, he thought to himself. The
sounds of roaring grabbed his attention. He looked up to see an
aeroliner taking off from the nearby spaceport. Guess I'm where
I need to be, he thought again. He made his way into the
spaceport and booked his flight to Cassio, only to find that his
flight was already booked for him. Wondering to himself if the
secretive group was responsible, he found his baggage and
cam-disk equipment case and boarded the next aeroliner departing
       for Cassio.
The flight took less than three hours altogether, which came as
a surprise to Armos. As the passengers disembarked from the
flight, Armos grabbed his equipment case and baggage and made
his own exit from the craft. To his surprise, Cassio appeared to
be even more green than Ameriga. He was surrounded on all sides
by jungle, and the sun above was five times brighter than Gaia
(and three times brighter than Ameriga's) He found himself
wishing for sunglasses with an extremely dark tint as he made
his way to a building which appeared to grow out of the large
trees as though it was a large colony of fungi. Armos noted that
the architecture of the planet offered the same form as the
spaceport building, as though growing like fungi from the trees.
The other shock Armos got was the sheer size of the trees
themselves. He had visited Earth once, back before the Exodus,
and seen the giant Redwood trees. To his awe, he realized that
those same Redwoods would appear to be pygmies here, as the
trees soared to twice their height. Spacecraft were weaving
through the canopies with a grace thought only possible by
       birds.
Armos - "There must be a reason Alwyn sent me here, but I'll be
hanged if I know what that reason is. Certainly can't be for the
       trees or the architecture."
He walked, half-awed, into the building to check his case and
suitcase before being allowed to 'officially' land on the
surface of the wonder world of Cassio.
       [hr]
       Planet PG23A-0178
Vergusson was waiting when the shuttle landed in the interior of
the planet, deep inside an impact crater from millenia ago.
Because the crater was located in a deep desert, the crater
changed very little over the centuries. The reason for the
location of the landing pad underground was clear: avoid
detection from orbit. But the camouflage gate that closed far
above the flight-tunnel also served to disguise the landing pad
from accidental discovery from the surface. As the shuttle
landed with a thunk, Vergusson stepped forward. The ramp lowered
as the door opened. Alden Tate stepped down, a study in
bio-organic technology. Half his face and his left arm and leg
had been replaced by mecha-parts and bionetic plates. He walked
with a slight robotic jolt in each step as even his natural
right leg had to remain in balance with his mech-leg.
Tate - "We may have to seek other sources of information. Our
Feeder is running from Imperial spies and foreign agents."
Vergusson - "The foreign devils remain determined to find us
even if they ultimately fail to do so. It is no surprise."
Tate - "On the other hand, one of those foreign devils may soon
collapse. A new shogun has taken power and made a move that
several daimyo and Houses oppose, but only three of those Houses
are moving against him because he assassinated two of their
       House heads."
Vergusson - "How will this benefit us?"
Tate - "They won't be able to come to Drake's assistance, which
will leave that particular border open for further infiltration.
Plus they're getting funds from another party, which has serious
       grievances against the central government."
       Vergusson - "Who?"
       Tate - "The Great Houses."
Vergusson was perplexed. Last reports he read had the Xie fleet
assisting, albeit under Inuyashian surveillance, with the
removal of rebel cadres from Azuria. This had prevented them
from seizing control of the planet of one big city.

       <cont'd
Vergusson - "Why would the Great Houses help them?"
Tate - "The Great Houses have always had an animosity toward
Trekylon going back to the Founding. For them, any chance to
secretly disrupt Trekylon while overtly assisting them is one
they will not shy away from. Fortunately, we don't deal with Xie
because they are our enemy, not much different from the Drake
       Imperium occupying Imperiopolis."
Both men proceeded down the well-lit subterranean tunnels
leading from the landing pad to the underground metropolis. Tate
could see that the underground version of Imperiopolis was
bustling. Tate couldn't help but smile.
Tate - "So how does the Great Houses aiding the malcontents in
       the Showa territories help us?"
Vergusson - "We've been in secret talks with smugglers who work
for the Great Houses. They officially deny connections to these
smugglers, but covertly they've given them funds to attack
several outlying systems close to the Showa Imperium. We could
establish similar secret connections with Xie thru these same
       smugglers."
Tate - "The very idea of working with foreign devils against the
corrupt government is worse than blasphemy. I will not sanction
       such an idea."
Vergusson - "Perhaps our contact in Section 31 could act in our
name. It would keep our hands clean, your conscience clear, and
still provide us with covert support."
Tate - "Next time you meet with our Eyes, order it. I want this
war to end and the puppet-emperor's head on a plate."
Vergusson - "There is one more idea to bring to your attention."
Tate turned to look Vergusson in the eyes. Although the two men
were equals in everything, Tate often enjoyed employing his
'superior stance' when dealing with Vergusson. Either because he
truly felt inadequate to the challenge or because he ignored it,
       Vergusson never disputed it.
Vergusson - "There is a golden opportunity before us. With the
Imperial fleet stretched thin in their efforts to liberate the
conquered systems, they reduced the number of ships in their
Gaian Defense Fleet. We could stage an attack on the capital
with the primary goal of intimidating the populace into
demanding a change in government and opening of negotiations."
Tate - "Sounds like a weak idea."
Vergusson - "We have supporters on the ground. We would
instigate a popular uprising with the secondary goal of
capturing the Imperial Palace and taking Drake I prisoner. Use
him to demand an unconditional surrender and a complete
evacuation of all foreign forces and ambassadors. If they choose
to ignore us, we would execute him...publicly."
Tate - "Now that's a plan I can get behind. I would want to be
       there when he is beheaded."
Vergusson - "There is a small task force of 75 ships that can be
sent to Gaia. They'll hide within the Patterson asteroid belt
and send a detachment of fighters and bombers to Gaia,
approaching from the nightside and using Ielia's magnetic field
to hide their emissions from any residual patrols."
Tate - "Excellent. I have someone in mind for this operation.
Order Malbus to appear before me at once."

City of Dondras. Independent world of Ameriga. Tuesday 0230
       Hours UT (2:30 pm ET)
Burton Armos had not fully recovered from the initial shock of
seeing buildings built upon the trees. But as he walked along
the strong-yet-deceptively-fragile looking causeways that linked
the buildings (and the trees, for that matter), he was more and
more awestruck by the architecture and the uniquely large trees.
If Paul Bunyan had a dog, it would go absolutely crazy on a
planet like this, he thought to himself. He took a moment to
look up...and up....and up....up to the point that his neck
began to strongly protest. The treetops were so high in the sky
it was impossible to avoid imagining the clouds not obstructing
the view, or the very tops of the trees poking through even the
tallest thunderstorm clouds. Considering that the heights the
trees reached were as high as the tallest ever thunderstorm
clouds on Earth or Gaia, it made him wonder how no trees had
       ever been struck by lightning.
He caught sight of a group of robed men near the Info-Kiosk on
the causeway. They appeared to be in silent conference, and
Armos was certain that whatever reason Alwyn had sent him here,
these men had to be playing a role in it. Silently, he opened
his equipment case, touched the control on his wristcomm, and
activated a cam-disk. He guided the cam-disk closer slowly, not
wanting to startle the men. They remained huddled, in deep
conversation, unaware of the intrusion of the cam-disk. Armos
immediately began recording all visual and audio data from the
cam-disk and pretended to be in awe over the heights of the
trees, which wasn't impossible as he was still gawking in awe.
He constantly checked back to make sure the med had not seen the
cam-disk, but after the third glimpse, one of the men looked up
and locked eyes with Armos. His expression (what little Armos
could see of it) turned intensely dark. He pointed at Armos and
the other men turned and looked right at him.
Armos - "Looks like this news story is to be continued..assuming
I make it out of here alive."
He activated the recall-command on the cam-disk, which
unfortunately knocked one of the men in the back of his head.
Armos winced, then turned and started running as the others
began pulling out energy-pistols. The cam-disk sped back to
Armos, dropped into the equipment case, and shut-off just as
Armos was closing within reach. He snapped it up, closing it as
two pairs of energy blasts chewed up the ground where the bag
had been sitting. Armos ran straight into a crowd of people
making their way along the central square, which to his surprise
was a free-floating structure. Behind him, the robed men were
       closing the distance.
       Voice - "Get down!"
Armos didn't waste time looking for whomever barked the warning,
he dove onto the floor and covered the back of his head. From
his position, he could still stilleto heels and a leather
pantsuit. He suddenly smelled ozone and felt a prickling
sensation on his skin. Seconds later, he heard several grunts
and groans, followed by the sound of bodies falling.
Voice - "You can get up. Its safe now."
Armos rose slowly back to his feet and found himself staring at
a strikingly beautiful woman of about 23-25 years of age. She
wore a leather tank top which nearly revealed as much as it
concealed. But Armos knew, her sensuality was well protected by
a pair of muscular arms that gave her a strength that belied her
fragile appearance. She was slender, with curves that were as
erotic as her muscular arms were powerful. He caught sight of
the blaster in her hand as she holstered it again.
Woman - "I'm an agent working for the Imperial Ministry of
Intelligence and the IBI. My codename is Willow. I'm here to
find any sign of rebel sympathy or signs of a rebel takeover."
Armos - "You suspect that those men are rebel sympathizers or
       otherwise working for the rebels?"
Willow - "That is why I need them...and your cam-disk."
Armos - "I'm a reporter for GNN. This was supposed to be just
another week for me. Covering the war from the GNN newsdesk.
Instead I'm out here because my supervisor sent me. I was
abducted on the way to Cassio, brutalized by a woman, then told
by some old guy to come here, and now I get chased by a bunch of
robed men. Will someone now please tell me WHAT THE FRAK IS
       GOING ON!?"
Willow - "I suggest we go somewhere more private to talk. Plus,
you have an injury that needs tending to."
Armos looked down and saw that, indeed, he had scraped his
elbows in his action to avoid her weapon fire. Both elbows were
bleeding profusely and the pain which had been ignored due to
lack of knowledge of the wounds now screamed at him.
Armos - "What about the blood?"
Willow unholstered another weapon, which Armos recognized as an
Imperial-issue Mark V handphaser. She brought the glowing end of
the phaser down on the twin pools of blood and fired. The blood
       was instantly vaporized.
Willow - "This way, they won't be able to track you or identify
       you."

       By: MichaelH23 Date: November 20, 2015, 2:44 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Hotel San Platz, Downtown Dondras
Willow and Armos had taken refuge in the grand hotel building
located not far from Dondras Square. The room offered a balcony
with views of the surrounding town as well as the endless vista
of trees. There was a cedar scent that was strong but not
unpleasantly so, which was a welcome relief to Armos. Willow
remained in her skintight pants but had changed into a tank top
that, aside from its red color, was just as skintight as her
previous one. Her bosom was of a healthy and attractive size and
Armos had the weirdest sensations every time his eyes wandered
to them. The scene was almost pornographic except for the
heavily tied-up, blindfolded and gagged men who had chased Armos
earlier, lying at the foot of the large bed. Willow was in the
process of retrieving a hypospray which she would use to take
blood samples from the three men. Armos couldn't bear to watch
this procedure, so he focused on the interior of the suite. The
fact that the ceiling and walls were nothing but living tree was
just too amazing for words. From what he learned from the
too-friendly bellhop (possibly because of Willow's attire), the
entire structure, like every other building on the planet, was
built into the living giants in such a way that none of the
trees suffered even when their interiors were carved, tunneled
       through, and excavated.
Willow - "Hopefully we can determine who these men are."
Armos - "Why are you needing their blood samples?"
Willow - "Rebels use an agent in their blood which makes it easy
to identify them in cases of emergency. If they have that agent,
       we'll know they're rebel agents."
Armos' eyes wandered down to Willow's chest again as she took
one sample, then another from the three bound men. Willow seemed
to both garner attention and push it away, which he found
curious. So lost in thought with his eyes locked on her bosom
that she startled him, "Do you mind not looking at my breasts?
       Makes me edgy."
Armos blushed and averted his eyes. Willow let out a frustrated
sigh before taking the last blood sample. She then attached the
vials to a tricorder and began the scans. Armos fidgeted
       slightly.
Willow - "You ever been this close to a woman before, Mr Armos?"
Armos - "I work for GNN. I'm constantly around women. It comes
with the job, whether as colleagues or as news story items."
Willow sighed again, the sigh that didn't suffer fools gladly,
"I didn't mean in terms of your working relationship, I meant as
in intimate settings, candlelight, satin sheets, lots of heaving
       breathing and perspiration."
Armos looked down at his feet, which felt like lead shoes, "No.
Never been intimate with a woman before."
Willow rolled her eyes, "That would explain your incessant need
to check out my chest. Tell me the truth, did you also check out
       my ass?"
Armos blushed a deep red, which only confirmed to Willow that he
had indeed checked out her rear.
Willow - "I'll make a deal with you then, Mr Armos. You help me
to help you uncover the rebels' plans on Gaia and not only will
you get that intimate contact with me you so desperately crave,
       I'll even marry you."
Armos - "What kind of deal is that?"
Willow rose from the edge of the bed. She put on a seductive
stride as she approached Armos, "Because we both know that snake
in your pants will give you away easily. I can tell its already
getting rock hard from just me walking toward you. Right now,
you need to keep that snake in its cage and get your head in the
game. Something big is being planned on Gaia involving the
Imperial Palace, and we need to find out what it is fast."
Armos, outraged by Willow's coy attempt to excite, covered his
crotch in a feeble attempt to hide his genital reaction, "So
that's your deal. We bust this mystery and you'll willingly
become my wife and lover. Want me to spit in the eye of the
Great Bird of the Galaxy too?"
       Willow - "Don't be stupid."
The tricorder beeped. Willow walked back to the bed and picked
up the device. Armos rose from his seat and walked over, no
longer letting his eyes wander to her cleavage, "Looks like that
agent you talked about is present. We have rebels."
