       The Commonwealth of Mare Romanum is a collection of islands and
       mainland Europan territories bound by a common law, common
       military force, and common head of state. What is unique about
       the commonwealth is the fact that each of the islands and the
       mainland territory have their own dietine to manage the daily
       affairs of local government. Because the culture, architecture,
       laws, and in some cases even the dress code are based directly
       or indirectly on Ancient Rome, and due to the central location
       in the Roman Sea (mare Romanum) that the nation-state received
       its name. The languages used in this nation-state are based on
       the old Italian language of Earth and include neuItalian,
       Italian, and Italo-Romagno.
       The commonwealth head, Premier Vitore Amadeo, is believed to be
       a descendant of the former kings of Italy from the ancient House
       of Savoy, though his own upbringing was not as noble. Formerly a
       member of the Merchants Guild, like Emperor Drake I of Trekylon,
       Amadeo was elevated to the premiership of the newly created
       nation-state by his fellow former Guilder as a means of
       assisting in the rebuilding and resettlement of the remaining
       victims of the Exodus and the recently concluded Civil War. His
       mix of compassion, guile, bravado, and great statesmanship will
       be useful as he builds on the foundations laid down by the
       Convention of Imperiopolis.
