       Track System Coverings

The one shield & accessory covering mounting on the one track
system is different than the other one. And it seems the side
shield plates are the same in dimension, the one just a mirror
from the other. This causes an off set on both track systems.
Shouldn't the shield plates be designed separately based on each
shield & accessory covering mounting and still visually match
each other when attached to the system?

Hi, Robert! That top left image you posted where the metal plate
has a more "unique" angle is more correct to the original than
the one in the top right, which was our original design. The
correct one is not finished, though, and the angles I used for
the feature are not my final. It was mostly testing and I ended
up saving it to remind myself to finish it. I need to try and
find the perfect balance where the covering hides as much of the
10" idler as possible (like in the bottom left image), keeps to
the supplied dimensions as much as possible, and the edge of the
covering is parallel to the ground (like in the bottom right
       image).
In the trip videos, Terry measured the sheet metal piece but did
not grab or notice it's strange angle. I think the best
"picture" you will see of this piece is in the "Making Of"
featurette from the Blu-ray. The light will reflect off of the
part and give away it's shape. You can also see it in Disk 7 of
the videos where Terry is grabbing measurements from the track
drive. This is one of the last areas of the track system that we
need to work on, though it's not a gamebreaker if you need to
build a track system right this moment. So yeah, be careful
       there and good luck!
I can't seem to link a YT video without embedding or setting the
start time, so jump to 5:56 in this video:

       Hi Andrew
I figured it was because of unfinished work but I had to be
sure. It was driving me nuts actually. Right now I'm working
on the metric design for the robot yet still having it up to
spec with the original as much as I can.
       Robert
