SolidWorks hardware size fix?
By: Dagroid Date: September 11, 2014, 11:49 am

I believe it was mentioned in a video or somewhere on Facebook
that the toolbox hardware might come in larger than expected.
That has certainly been the case with me.
Any tips on correcting this? I don't much about the SolidWorks
fasteners :(

I don't know if you figured out how to fix this yet, but this
always occurs whenever we reinstall SolidWorks -- whether it's
on a fresh Windows install or not. The way to fix this is to
open smaller assemblies where screws are used, working your way
through them up to the large assembly.
For example, on a fresh install, if you open the track drive
you'll probably see the screws are all over-sized. You would
close the track drive assembly, and go deeper into the track
drive folder and open up the smaller subassemblies like the
idlers, gear assemblies, battery boxes, etc, and as you open
them all individually, one by one, it will properly create the
screws on your system. I do this for all areas of the robot
until nothing is amiss. It takes me about 20 minutes to do now
once you remember where everything is...
We've had this problem for as long as I can remember, after
recadding areas from scratch and everything else. We're
considering (and most likely will) change our Toolbox options to
"Create Parts" under "User Settings." That will fix it for good.
The default option to "Create Configurations" is very nice and
tidy but it's been nothing but issues. You'll see this change in
our next release.

Thanks, Andrew.
I actually did find the part in Terry's video where he touches
on this.
Here is the link for anyone else:

Do you think this issue is a SolidWorks bug? You'd think all
these hardware configs would be handy to use, but not so much
right now :P
