FML... Listen To ME!

I guest needed a parking spot. I pointed DIRECTLY at the spot
and told them to take that one, that exact one. They parked, I
assume that it was done and over with. I go outside two hours
later... it's parked in the spot in FRONT of that one.... which
is $15 a day.... not free. But I can't put the ticket on the
dash for them! So I tape a copy with a note to the ticket
people. Hopefully they will just not ticket them, because I have
the original. And I told them what to do when they get back.
I pointed at a specific spot. You trust me to tell you. So, why
don't you listen?

They had a different sight-line? Perhaps telling them if they do
not park in that exact place you indicated, it will generate a
$15 per day ticket from the Parking Authorities?

The parking ticket is $100. The permit to park is $15.

I'm convinced that visitors to the heart of any big or old city
need to put at least as much time in planning their parking as
they spend selecting a place to stay.
When we vacationed in Italy a few years ago, I spent weeks, in
advance, reading the Rick Steves website on travel in Italy, and
my greatest takeaway was about the ZTL areas (Limited Traffic
Zones, called Zona Traffico Limitato or ZTL in Italian) found in
most major cities.
When we stayed in the heart of Siena, Italy, I could drive the
car to our hotel to unload luggage and passengers, then I had to
immediately drive to a public parking lot a 20 minute walk from
the hotel! This is the norm in towns that preexisted cars by
1000 years!
But a lot of travelers don't do their research, the traffic
cameras catch them (they really work), and big fines result.
