       Ya never know........

Yesterday as I was leaving the house to do errands the phone
rang. I expected it to be another dead air but I could hear
noises in the background so I said talk to me or I hang up. A
man's voice says I am here now (apparently the dog was demanding
attention). He says he wants to make a reservation. So I ask him
to bear with me while I go to my office and he says good, I will
let the dog out. I het to the office and silence but the line IS
open, finally he returns. We get the reservation made and then
he says something that made my jaw drop. He tells me he found me
in Off The Beaten Path! It is a guide book and I believe there
is one for every State. I cannot even FIND my copy of it right
now. I know I was in the 3rd and the 4th Editions - have no idea
       what the current edition is.
This goes back to about 1999 era - WV Tourism sent Su
Claussen-Wicker my way because she was writing a book: The
Trails of the Virginias. At the time I had a package with a B &
B at the other end of the trail using the trail to get from one
to the other. She did the trail, included us and talked about
our trail on her book tour (I heard one of the interviews). She
got the assignment for the 3rd Edition and included a vignette
of our conversation about her safety hiking the trail by
herself. Now, in 2024, I get a reservation because I was found
in that book! Ya never know!

That’s pretty cool. We found out that our tiny town was
recommended by a German book about how to tour the US. We were
specifically recommended as a stopover between Boston and Maine
       during leaf peeping season.
The problem was, the Germans would arrive late and tired and
leave the next morning, usually saying, I wish we’d stayed
       longer than one night.

Wonderful/amazing. I just got some good coverage in Arkansas
Crosswords magazine. I'm on pages 24-27

Great article. IF it is as mice and appointed as the suite the
Road Trip stayed in - it is Luxury to the utmost!
