Quiet Group

I really like our new forum, yet we seem to be a rather quiet
bunch. Hope it is because everyone is busy renting summer rooms.
Do we desire to invite others to join?
Were we able to reach many of our former Innspiring members? I
used to see Beach House post fairly often.

Busy with paying guests, indeed.
Actually, took off for a week to meet latest and last
grandchild.
Our innsitter, a local lady. got to be Martha for a week.
Guests rave about her service, breakfasts, etc. Returning,
looking around, I can see her style is a bit more ... girly ...
than mine. I'm back to full, full house. I put on my denim
apron, not so fancy here. But when it comes right down to it,
people like to be waited on in a friendly setting. And, hot
plates are key.

Didn't figure we were hiding, yet when I first found the old
forum seems like there were several new posts each day when I
looked so wondered if we should be proactive in an attempt to
build our little community and interest others.

Tom that time with family is the best part of life and the kids
grow up too quickly. Our only young grandchild is 9, the others
are old folks, we have a great-grandchild becoming a teenager. I
get to enjoy the fun parts of the business but daughter Michelle
and husband do the heavy lifting.

I discovered the original Innspiring shortly after opening in
2009, needed advice, found content.
This present forum is old hands, used to sharing an occasional
chat and an occasional gripe -- we aren't dealing with the nitty
gritty of starting and running an inn because we kinda know how,
by now.
So, we aren't offering content that could first attract
googlebot and then attract new innkeepers.
The sad part about losing innspiring is the loss of the many
threads of collective wisdom about all the issues that arise
with personal scale innkeeping. There was comradery, surely, but
most important was the advice: what's a good booking engine, a
credit card processor, how do you deal with a bad review, grumpy
guest, food allergies, the pros and cons of innsitters, etc.
We'll need to accumulate wisdom ...

I just got home from vacation, a week in Italy and a week in
Croatia. Worn out (the 23 hour trek from Dubrovnik to Memphis
was a killer), but it was wonderful!
I wanted to check the forum today, but had a hard time finding
it. Googling "innsane forum" doesn't find it. Too new, too
little activity. I had to go back and find an email about a
response to one of my posts to find a link to the forum.
I wonder if there's a way we could do something to do some
search engine optimization or something. If people can't find
it, it can never thrive, or even survive.

[member=4]Arks[/member] - sounds like a wonderful vacation
although I fear that much travelling in a week would do me in
permanent.
Google and finding the forum:
I think Tom's post sums up the answer "This present forum is old
hands, used to sharing an occasional chat and an occasional
gripe -- we aren't dealing with the nitty gritty of starting and
running an inn because we kinda know how, by now. So, we aren't

Don't get me wrong, it is nice keeping up with friends but are
we offering anything of interest to those interested in
innkeeping? That was my point in the original post. We are
hiding our knowledge. When I found the original forum, I thought
I struck gold, reading all the old posts and then Gillum helped
me join.
Seems to me if we want to survive as more that a group of old
innkeeper friends, we need to spread the word by inviting others
and hopefully sharing solutions to their problems.

Hi everyone! Just saw the FB post and came to sign up. I own a
9 room B&B in New Orleans. We've been at it for almost 8 years
now. Our summers are our slow season, so I have some free time.
Happy to be here!
