       #1 Grandson just left

My #1 grandson (both pecking order and caring) just left. He
came in Friday for Thanksgiving. He invited a friend to join us
(my invitations were declined). We had a really nice dinner - my
homemade bread stuffing and the trimmings. I made my pumpkin pie
with pumpkin I had cooked & made into puree (the pie filling
also has 3 Tablespoons of WV whiskey) with mock Devonshire cream
instead of Reddi-Whip. I had also purchased a pumpkin roll made
by a young lady in town and a tray pf Spanakopita from the Greek
       Church in Clarksburg.
Sent him home loaded up - a qt of WV maple syrup, turkey, 3
packages of porkchops, stuffing, glazed carrots, Spanakopita, El
Salvador coffee, and a cup of Burundi coffee to go and a piece
of pumpkin pie for the road.
While dinner was in the oven, we walked uptown for Small
Business Saturday and had a lovely visit talking about all sorts
of things - including his trip he took before coming home from
his year in Bahrain. He had saved his leave time so went to
Turkey for 3 days, visited Poland (both sides of his heritage),
then went to visit my son in Finland. Besides exploring Finland,
they went to Stockholm, Estonia, then went to Latvia, and
Lithuania on a driving tour. He did 10 years Active Duty and
then went in the Reserves - he is now a Chief. On Active Duty,
he was in Japan, Spain, and Guam. I have a world traveler. After
he came back from his year (for the Navy) in Djibouti, he
finished his Masters Degree at George Washington University
(Yes, I AM bragging). The only one who visits me more is my
daughter the cop (probably because both of them are single,
       logistics is easier).

How wonderful to have a one on one visit and be able to feast
with the kids. Sounds like a memorable and delicious dinner!
