Almost off the Merry-Go-Round

July 17 by 9:30 PM, my youngest son had landed, cleared Customs,
and we were on our way to Shinnston. Tuesday was shopping after
he assessed the To-Do List my daughter left to see what we
needed to get to do it as well as him buying some clothes. And
the Community Garden team was meeting Tuesday evening to pick
produce and meet with a reporter for the WV Agriculture Dept.
magazine for an article on our Garden.
Wednesday was some things getting done before heading back to
the Pittsburgh Airport to pick up a friend of his who was coming
in for 3 days returning to the airport Sunday. then her uncle
died, she skipped her return flight to drive to DC for the
funeral and then drive back to Florida. The only 1-way car
rental available was able to be picked up in Charleston, WV
Tuesday. Tuesday another of his friends arrived for 1 night -
and City Council called for a Special Meeting (ugh!). Monday,
middle son and his 2 boys had arrived and he asked if I would be
hurt if he took his boys to a hotel with a pool Wednesday night
- no sweat do it (good thing). Oldest son came in Wednesday - I
had no idea he was coming - it was great to have all my boys
together (Thursday & Friday).
Then Wednesday I get a call from a lady who had stayed here eons
ago and since the friends had left, my son told me to take it &
he helped me flip the room (both of the other sons were at
hotels that night). When she said the name - I KNEW who they
were which is unusual for me.
Thursday we ALL (oldest son has a 3-seat vehicle) went to the
Exhibition Coal Mine and stopped at the New River Gorge National
Park on the way home (not even out of the way). Friday oldest
son left, Saturday middle & his boys left They got a LOT of
things done including replacing the kitchen faucet that was
leaking. Sunday my son cleaned the upstairs, finished some
projects, and Monday we went to where I grew up and then to
southeastern PA to meet up with his former neighbor when he
lived in California. He was spending the night with that group
and they were taking him to the airport. I went to the WV
Municipal League Summer Conference.
I left the Conference as soon as the last workshop ended
Wednesday (last night) because I had guests coming as soon as I
called them to let them know I was home. Then Chapel. Breakfast
this morning and they left - still doing laundry to get ready
for guests Saturday (2-rooms) and Sunday (1 room coming for
bicycles around 1 PM knowing the room will not be ready yet).
Tomorrow and Saturday is the Woman's Club Rummage Sale in
conjunction with the annual Citywide Yard Sale. I plan to stop
the Merry-Go-Round for a few days after breakfast Monday (I
hope). I also have to remember to go get my bicycles from their
check-up tomorrow so they are in the shed Sunday. Martin helped
me roll them to the bike shop last week. I am too old for this.
While you folks wear yourselves out with revolving door paying
guests. I dodge non-paying curve balls. Oh, my son hated my
vacuum cleaner so he bought me a Dyson like they have in Finland
- it arrived today and is waiting for me to put it together.
