As We Count our Blessings
By: gillumhouse Date: November 27, 2025, 10:21 am

Happy Thanksgiving (American today) as we count our blessings.
The blessings of family, Friends (ALL of YOU!), guests, and
being among the fortunate to have "Enough".
Have a wonderful Day of family, friends, laughter, joy, and
FOOD!

We did our share of eating, but I'm already tired of the
leftovers!

Since I did not make much, it just being me, I polished off the
remaining leftover (except for the pumpkin roll) last night.
Clean-up was easy thanks to slow cooker liners and foil on the
sheet used to bake the yam.
The lady who inquired about the 18th Century Thanksgiving
thought she could just come for dinner and not book a room -
nope (they could not do stairs). I did not miss all the work
involved.

And happy Thanksgiving to all, including our Canadian friends
;)
A kind society is a renewable fountain of thanks.
We offer to guests and serve on the same buffet as friends and
family. Usually a guest family or two; this year just one
couple. Business in general is down this year.
Traditional Thanksgiving, including New England favorite,
scalloped oysters.
All well fed and, yes, leftovers.

Thanksgiving was a nice day, younger son and family visited,
always a treat. No leftovers, daughter cooks and sends food. I
say she's my door dash girl.

Yes it is. I was only 1/3 full for Thanksgiving, and Christmas
isn't looking any better. It past years I've raised rates on
Thanksgiving and Christmas because of the demand, but not this
year.
I think people are, probably wisely, watching their spending, as
times are a bit financially uncertain. I think they're still
traveling, but staying at the cheap chains with free breakfast
of cereal, cold biscuits, and powdered scrambled eggs.

I would have said no reservations on the books until whenever
except I got a Thanksgiving surprise - a one-night(of course) on
Christmas Eve. And she thinks this place is going to be all
festive... Looks as if I will have to at least put the garland
and bows on the stairs - a one-time, one night is not worth more
effort putting up and taking down!
Most of the year was dribble, dribble or empty then September
and October all hell busted loose. My cleaning lady (finally got
one) made out like a bandit.
Now if would get into the 40s more it would be nice - it has
gone down into the 20s at night already so I have already had an
electric bill over $200, a month early! It looks as if our
Christmas Parade will be in he 30s most likely low 30s by the
time the concert ends. I like Sunday better - supposed to be in
the 40s for that afternoon concert.
