AI Helping With The B&B Pages
By: Generic Date: September 30, 2025, 2:37 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I finally decided that it was time to do something about the
fact that I'm using a theme for the B&B that is so old, it says
       "written by Methusalem"
But I'm really chickenshit when it comes to these things. I
don't want the B&B website to be off for any reason. So I
started working with AI on how to pull this off. The first thing
was to create a complete staging version of the B&B website.
So I created the staging B&B website and the component that is
giving me the problem, which is part of the theme.... DIED! I
literally had just started and that tool (called AHETO) killed
the whole staging website. Delete the staging website. Create a
brand new staging website. Turn off AHETO, so it never kills the
       website again.
And then I started to slowly migrate to the new theme. One page
at a time. Created the new header, the new footer, the new
       version of the website.
Well, AI helped me work on a new 1/3rd of the screen so that
people can book by placing dates right on the front page of the
website. I had it, it stopped working... AI for the win. And
then it helped me style it. Woohoo.
Next problem, my LayerSlider wasn't doing what it should do. Do
I replace it with a static photo? Do I put in another
layerslider. For the moment, I created a brand new LayerSlider
that uses one less plug in than before.
So, I have the front page done on the staging website. Which
lead to my looking at my availability page. THREE DAYS of
coding, including a new script hidden at the top of the page and
some really nifty CSS coding and I now have the system looking
so much better. Including it give you the full rack rate and the
discounted direct booking rate with the calculated discounts...
       showing up in green!
So, now I just have to wind my way through all the pages... in
two languages. Going to take time, but I guess I have time until
we go on vacation in 3 weeks

Remember Dumitru, the WordPress theme developer, born in
Moldova, lives in Germany. He GAVE me my website's theme a few
years ago, and helped me set it up. The main attraction is that
it's developed specifically with hospitality websites in mind,
and it leaves out all the unnecessary add-ons that cause a
website to break every time a new WordPress versions come out.
He was/is a great guy, and I'm sorry he's not part of Innsane.

He still pops in from time to time - just rare. Not often
       enough.
