Speaking of retiring

Of course when we bought the place in 2013, it was already an
inn. 9 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, a decent sized three room owners
apartment. We immediately annexed two rooms that the seller
had been renting. One for our TV room and library and one for
our kids bedroom.
We retired last October and now only rent two rooms that have
outside entrances so that we can have the whole first and second
floors to ourselves. That’s the background. Here’s the fun
part…..
We finally took the time to convert what used to be the inn
breakfast room into a sun room/coffee room for ourselves! We’d
been using it as a sitting room, but with old porch chairs.
We moved real furniture in and I couldn’t be happier. The cat
loves it too!

Attaching pictures in this app is more difficult than I’d
anticipated. Hope you get the gist.

My #1 grandson retired from the Navy (as a Chief) in 2024. My
youngest daughter retired Friday from the Chicago Police Dept. I
am still doing what \i have done for 29 years. I live here and
may as well keep the house generating income.
A couple that has been coming for at least 30 years off & on,
booked in September - and asked if I need ground venison. I kept
it to a YES, PLEASE. Wanted to say is the Pope Catholic - after
I did the happy dance. My friends did not get my deer in
November 2024. Was down to 2 packages and a soon-to-arrive guest
chose my maple venison sausage.

easy at all. Congratulations for doing it as well as you did!

Congratulations! It's a wonderful feeling taking over your inn
as your home! I just fiinished cleaning the two suites in the
Main House that we used to rent as bed and breakfast suites. We
are able to have family stay, enjoy that space and it truly has
become our home...not our B+B. It took awhile to really feel
like home, replacing some aspects and refreshing the rest. We
still have our free-standing cottage that provides enough income
to cover taxes and insurance but it is an entirely different
feeling from hosting guests in our house. It sounds like you get
the same level of privacy.

Silver, congratulations on your takeover of your own home. It
is a difficult feeling to describe to people. We were happy
and comfortable in our apartment at the back of the house, but
it sure is nicer to have the place aaallllll to ourselves!
