Holey!

They are doing work on the house next door... the houses are all
connected and we are old enough that the walls are sometimes
just a single layer or brick (when today they would be double
cinderblock). Well, some idiot decided to drill into the brick
using a drill bit that was MUCH too long and voila... holes
right into a guest room.
Luckily the guest had checked out at 6AM, so they didn't see it
or worse... hear it. Called them. Not quick to respond, if you
ask me. The wall will be fixed before the guest arrives today.
Which is lucky for them, because often it's a same day turnover.
Also, they are definitely NOT pros when it comes to a fast fix.
I would have had that done in a few hours, using special
spackling that dries in 30m to 1h, sanding and paint with primer
in it. They still haven't finished.I told the worker that the
boss... is an amateur at fixing stuff like that and how I would
have had it done, already. Employee says he's not a "joint
puller" which around here is considered a specialty. There are
people who come in and do just that... you put up the walls and
then call a joint puller, because they do it with no trace.
Guest arrives at 3PM.

I am optimistic that all will be well by 3 PM. Here is hoping
anyway.

Wow! That's a new one. Should call Mike Holmes.
All my rooms have another building adjacent, so that could
happen to me, too!
In fact, my next door neighbor came and got me one time, and
showed me where "my carpenter had drilled through her wall,
making a hole in her plaster." Possible, I knew, since I'd had
workers in my place recently, installing some stuff.
I put my finger in the "hole" and there was no hole there. What
had happened was that water from her roof had leaked into her
brick wall and caused the plaster to "blister" and separate from
the brick. Quite a relief, for me. I suspect she just hung a
painting over the spot and let it go at that!

I confess I have one or two paintings hanging in unusual spots,
but they are never to be moved. 😂. They serve their
purpose. Gotta love an antique house for all its quirks.

At the ,o,ent most of my walls just exhibit screw heads, even
upstairs. The paintings are currently on exhibit at the Gallery
in town - his Highness is one of the artists being featured. A
sale would be nice, but I do not expect any.

Best of luck on selling. 🤞 How exciting for you to have
a gallery show! How long is it going?

It ends the end of May. I have no expectations of sales. It is
just nice to show his paintings. Most of what sold were the
paintings of classic vintage motorcycles and most of them were
commissioned by owners of those motorcycles. The motorcycle
paintings that he did just because he liked them (and were used
to show what he did) that sold were purchased by people who
happened to OWN one of that model and even color. 2 of them were
purchased by a collector in California who owned both of those
specific motorcycles that were ridden by the iconic racer Dick
Mann.
After commissioning a painting of his motorcycle, a man in
Colorado contacted me asking if John would do a painting of his
favorite dog that had died. He sent photos (not very good ones
either) and he was told yes, but you have to wait in line. You
are #3. He waited and was thrilled when he got the painting.
Also he did line drawings for WV innkeepers for them to use in
their marketing or logo. He charged them very little knowing how
rolling in cash we innkeepers weren't. One of them came back a
year later commissioning him to do theirs again - in color this
time. He did. The last paiintings I sold went for 4-figures and
the first digit was not a 1.
