Exhausted - but Bank Account is Happy

After a mostly dead Spring, June kicked in! Last week I had 2
rooms for 3 nights and had everything in good shape with the
rooms, supplies, and coffee roasted for the full-house this
weekend that had 2 of the rooms increased to 3-nights instead of
the original 2. Then I get a call from the road Wednesday - Do
you have a room tonight? Being the greedy guts I am - I took
them.
I knew Thursday had a late arrival (I had a Garden Club meeting
that it was vital I attend in the middle of the day) but was
ready when they arrived. Today people were going to gather in my
yard as they drifted into the area. Even got a Zoom meeting in
and shopping for more fruit before their pizza party (and the
rain held off). Even had a call for a charge-up on the Tesla
charger!
After breakfast in the morning, we are taking the kids (this is
the 3rd visit for the organizers & first for their grandkids) to
feed carrots to the camel and the zebra and their private tour
of the log house before the picnic and then I will have the log
house open with me in 18th century garb (got a bit of luck - the
band concert tomorrow evening was canceled so I am not rushing
to change and get ready to play!
Sunday morning 4 adults and a 2 year old have to be at the
airport by 5 AM so will have a to-go breakfast for them. Then
breakfast for the remaining members of the family.
This place is either dead or a zoo. Thank goodness next weekend
is only 1 room for 3 nights with city Council Monday night, band
rehearsals Tuesday and Thursday for the Sunday concert, a
rail-trail meeting and Chapel Wednesday, & the guests arriving
Thursday. Next week is a walk in the Park!

Actually, other than being sleep deprived, I AM having fun.
These guests are amazing, considerate people. I rook my
camcorder when they fed Punjab & Kofi & Eeyore this morning.
Funny thing is, the kids after a few carrots to the camel and
the zebra, were across the driveway paying MORE attention to of
all things, the horses! Then I filmed the picnic and as they
were touring the log house. I am going to make DVDs for each
family.
Now to finish up the clean-up of this morning so I can make a
to-go breakfast for 4 adults and a 2-year old who have to LEAVE
here no later than 5 AM. They made shirts for the reunion and
brought one for me.

Update: Everyone got off OK this morning. I was up at 3:00 AM
making a to-go for our flyers. Their Dad who took them to the
airport said everyone liked their breakfast. Then the remaining
gamily members & Mon & Dad (after the first night, they moved to
a motel so all the kids could stay here & came for breakfast
each morning) had breakfast at 7:30. By 9:30 they were loaded up
and heading for Nebraska. They will not be coming back since
this was the 4th time and now all their kids & grandkids hace
been to Shinnston. She wanted me to know that it was NOT due to
us (I knew that). I do not go to the same place over & over
again except the windjammer cruise & Williamsburg.)
After picking up the tab for ALL rooms, she gave me $200 tip &
the faughter that traveled with them stuck another $200 in my
apron pocket!
Icing on the cake! Another couple who have been here many times
over the years booked 2-nights in July last night - he said he
is going to bring me some deer! And she asked if they could have
English Muffin bread for 1 breakfast, told her she gets English
Muffin bread BOTH mornings!

Wow! You are now their official granny, and they love their
granny!
BTW, a few of use are planning to book schooner Lewis R. French
next spring. Thanks for the recommendation! No toilets or
showers in the cabins, just like Boy Scout camp. Can't wait!

Arks - it is wonderful. Pack a towel or 2 - they give you one.
And take a small bottle of dish soap to use for your bath in the
world's largest bathtub (soap sinks). There are 2 heads. The
owner is not the one I sailed with (that was 2 owners ago) but
it is a non-smoking vessel.
Some of the schooners put into a lot of ports - the French, if
it is as it was, sails! The food was awesome. Dan put into North
Haven Island (they knit wonderfully beautiful sweaters there
from the wool of their sheep (they send the wool to the mainland
for carding & dying) and to Stonington to get the lobsters for
the lobster bake. I would go again in a heartbeat!

Yep, some high summer busy days here too. Today I am
doing.....Nothing. OK, finishing laundry, but that is ALL.
