avoid arguments and hate when you can.

Yes, that's me. Avoid interactions. I worry about Generic,
apparently stepping aside during the current world chaos.
Haven't heard from him lately. But I'm sure politics has an
effect on his bookings from the great south. :(

Locals aren't angry at the individual, and definitely not those
       who visit us.
There is a significant cut in traffic going south. A lot more
locals staying and travelling domestically. We have a lot of May
through September booking already. Some of our rooms are already
over 50% booked for the summer. Some airlines have curtailed
flights, up to 70%. They are comparing travel south by locals as
being down to the levels of COVID. It doesn't help that there
are a lot of stories about locals being detained at the border
and a few cases of people being arrested by ICE. Not just
locals, but Europeans. And the law changed and apparently there
is a new law on snowbirds having to register.
I'm expecting a lot more domestic travel

Hotel booked, passport up to date. We have no expectation of
anything but a hospitable welcome. As Eric says, those who visit
aren't the ones supporting the outrageous behavior. Maggats
       don't go to Canada.
I certainly wouldn't hesitate to visit the UK. Arks, you should
go! Greenwich is fascinating and best is to get there by water
on the Thames river ferry. Visit the Mary Rose, see heritage.
The Brits do ships really well.
It's more than a shame this dark pall of anxiety is cast over
centuries-long friendships and allegiances. Not good for the
world, and not good for the travel industry in the US -- people
are not going to visit if they are afraid of being hassled at
the border any more than the usual gruff ICE greeting.

I have a high school classmate touring England right now. I'm
anxious to hear his report on how he's treated. I'm not
expecting any violence, just the possibility of some unkind
       remarks. We'll see!

Wait - are you saying that if your friend gets unkind remarks in
the UK, you will not take your trip? I hear more than enough
unkind remarks right here in USA and see them on FB.
My response would be - so sorry you feel that way - then smile
       and move on.
IF I could afford that trip I would be booking it to the UK
today. As in every Country, they have their lunkheads just as we
do hear. There are countries I would not go near ever - but the
UK is not one of them. I found the scenery and people to be
lovely. I would not wear anything political (I do not wear
anything political here so why would I elsewhere).
       Just my NVHO!

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Fortunately, he said everybody was
quite nice in England, so I'll go, if I can afford it. Got a
horrible income tax report from my CPA today :(

Sad about the tax report. I hope you get to go. I know some
really nice B & Bs in the UK if you are visiting places I have
been. IF you go to Slapton Sands (WW II practice beach for
D-Day) or where the Mayflower sailed from, The Moorings at
Southend-By-the-Sea is right on the Channel and near both (we
stayed there and my friends took me both places and more. Also
stayed in Buxton, Harrogate, Princes Risborough, and a few other
       places.
I am FINALLY seeing movement! The Chief called and changed the 2
rooms for 1 night for the K-9 trainers to TWO nights!! Then I
got a call today for 2 rooms for 1 night in May that turns a Fri
       - Sun into a 5 room-night weekend (just means I had to cancel a
tour of Annapolis with my #1 Grandson that I will have a 3-visit
with instead of 4 - Hotels on the Hill)_ AND the lady from the
Chinese restaurant came over to book a month (2-rooms) for her
N-I-L her her sister (their house is too small) that I am giving
a DEEP discount (local/30 nights/2 rooms) with no breakfast. She
wanted to start tomorrow but will have to wait until Wednesday
because those rooms are booked tonight and tomorrow. My checking
& savings accounts are saying "it is about time!". The last 4
months of 2024 were disasters - one after the other. I could not
       win for losing!
Wednesday is going to be tricky - breakfast for the trainers,
flip the rooms, and get Mama & sister checked in before 1:30. I
have a 2:00 appointment to go get hearing aids! Huh????
