Will we sell?

Had a call yesterday from a gentleman who owned our inn before
the woman who sold it to us. He had been running an inn on
Nantucket and doing very well, but wants to move back to the
mainland. We chatted and had a very nice talk. I told him we
were not selling and gave him some suggestions.
After I hung up, I told my husband about the call and we
realized I’d never asked him what he was willing to pay.
Shows you that we love our home and money was not a concern.
But, over cocktails last evening, we did wonder if there was a
number that could change our mind and would we be willing to
move for money. 💰
Conclusion, we are happy here.

the thought of packing up gave me MY answer. NO! the kids can
rent a couple dumpsters - I won't be here to care.

The idea of moving is definitely a primary concern. Not
willing to downsize at this moment.

I feel much the same. Had a realtor and the next day, their
client, stop by desiring to talk. My honest answer was that a
number that would be interesting to me, wouldn't be interesting
to him. I'm too old and short of energy to start a new
adventure. For us, it's not an investment, it's home.

This is our last year. We go back and forth on whether or not it
to try and sell this as a business or just stay. I vote stay. I
love where I live. Very economical to stay where we are. Best
view ever. We live in a tax-free zone ( not a typo. We have no
town council here. Pay for our services like fire and garbage
and have our own well and septic. We live on a school bus route
so our road gets plowed right away) We have an established
garden that supplies us with what we need and plenty of space
for family and friends when they visit. I’m always looking at
real estate but everything comes up short to what we already
have and I’m too old to move and start fixing something up to
the way I want it. Already have that. Stubborn I guess but
there’s such a thing as being content with what you have.

When we bought this house it was with an eye to turning it into
a B & B.I LIKE the house, I know its rhythms and quirks. I love
this City. The B & B plan worked and supported the house and its
needs. Now I am comfortable in it in all its seasons, know what
I have to do in winter to keep the house (and me) functioning.
Enjoy your home and the view. The ONLY thing I do not have is a
great view - although I DO have hills I can see from my office.

Well, a nice place to visit is usually a nice place to live. I
recall Boston North Shore for thebeachhouse is Rockport, which
is definitely a nice place to live. My mother lived on Hodgkins
Cove, just a bit west along the coast from you. She loved it,
would swim in the bay, but eventually the north winds drove her
into town, Ipswich. The whole region is great.
Sixteen years ago, we purpose built a 5-room inn on 10 wild
acres right on a big, pretty wild river (today running 6,000
cfs). We intended to operate for only 8 years but just keep
going. Most of the operation is down to only me, but its
manageable. When I do quit, I'll stay here. Can't imagine
someone else wanting to pay what this property is worth to run a
B&B, unless they're a bored Martha Stewart wannabe or just
crazy.
