Enjoy the Wake?
[/quote]
I loved Wake, and that they offer Eggs Benedict every morning!
It was different, compared to other cruise ships I've been on.
No formal dining room. I loved that. Lots of smaller restaurants
to pick from. We loved the Korean Hot Pot place and the Test
Kitchen.
No buffet, but several cafeteria-style stops, which I also
liked. Could get English breakfast there every morning, with
eggs any style, great American-style bacon, and stewed/roasted
tomatoes. Just lacked the sauteed mushrooms to be perfect.
I'd go on Virgin again in a heartbeat, nice and no one under 18
allowed on board.

We have been on 4 and have 2 more booked, out of LA
Razzle used to have the BEST bacon, but they have reformulated
it twice because it was too popular. Yes, too popular. Best
version was candied with maple and a little chili for spice.
Best dish at the Wake... the beef marrow, which was off the menu
for a while.

ARKS, the dislike was a mistake - I was aiming for like and my
finger twitched. My only cruise experience has been the
windjammers - great food but at meal times and you do not get
lost in the shuffle. The cruise lines look like floating cities
that you cannot get out of town because the City Limits is
closed.

That's what the BIGGEST ships are like. Of course, for you, it's
a city... for me, it's just a few blocks... maybe a
neighbourhood. Not small enough to really make any connections
other than those that are tenuous.
I'm used to the hustle and bustle.

My 24 years in and around Chicago showed me I am small town. I
did the hustle & bustle and was glad to leave it. The last 19
years lived in a village - pop. 24,000 (almost half the
population of my capital city! Went into Chicago often - any
excuse and I drove in, but did not want to live there. Now 30
years later - definitely NOT! I do not know everybody - although
everybody seems to know me (unfortunately they do not know the B
& B). But this is my little piece of heaven on Earth.
Just registered for the Hotels on the Hill yesterday so will be
going back to DC in May for the Advocacy Committee of ALP.
Checked with my grandson and we will repeat last year (without
the face plant I hope). He bought a house after he retired from
the Navy and he said I will be staying in the new house (he must
have been working on it as it was a fixer upper I was told).
Time with #1 grandson makes the expense of the Hotels on the
Hill worth it! -
