Now I know how the end of the season feels

I got home from 2000+ miles of trip, knowing I had an Elopement
for today (it was booked a few days before I left). it was one
reason I decided to come home early. I ordered the flowers &
Minister before I left.
I got a reservation for the Gillum Room for 2-nights (Oct 11-12)
Tuesday. Yesterday I got a reservations for Rosi's Room with 2
little kids for Oct 12. Then I got an email from RezKey I had a
2-night for the Harris Room (Oct 11-12). I JUST got an email
from RezKey for the Gillum Room for Oct 13. I am too old for
this!
I also got an order for coffees while on my trip. I baked the
wedding cake last night & iced it this morning. I picked up the
flowers when I stopped for the Sparkling Cider. Wedding went off
nicely - their plans for Tennessee got changed so they headed
off for there instead of staying the night. I am currently
decompressing so I can go to bed (last night was Chapel until
Midnight) and actually sleep. They will stop in on Sunday to get
their DVDs and the photo CD.

I am now sorting out the coffees and meats for all these
breakfasts. Two have reported for Saturday morning waiting to
hear for Sunday from them. I now have to roast more Ethiopian
coffee it has been chosen by someone each of the 3 mornings - I
had enough for 1 morning.

I had 6 rooms check out Friday. Luckily, I planned ahead and
have all of them blocked off for tonight, and a couple of them
blocked tomorrow night, too, so there's plenty of time to get
them cleaned. I'd rather lose a little money that get
overwhelmed trying to flip 6 rooms same-day or by next day.
I say "I," but it's really the housekeeper I'm protecting. She's
in her late 60's and I try to keep from wearing her out, or
burning her out! I don't know what I'd do without her. She's a
retired RN, really into cleaning and really reliable.

Had a call at 6:30 this morning from a man wanting a room for a
few hours - he is going to the wedding the Gillum Room is going
to I think - and plans to get up and leave around 4 AM. He
thought my price was a little high for that short a time. I
actually do not HAVE another room tonight. I had to make
another batch of pork sausage today - All 4 wanted it today and
again tomorrow. The lady coming in today wanted maple venison
sausage. Used up all my Zambia coffee beans. I will make the urn
of Ethiopia tomorrow, I do not think the 12- cup percolator will
be enough for the group. My supplier is out of Zambia also. Will
have to wait for the next crop to come in. Down to 29 countries!
I will shut the doors on the 2 queen rooms tomorrow - only the
Gillum needs to be flipped. Thank goodness.
Wish I HAD a cleaning lady I could call!

Does he really think someone will charge him less if he only
stays 4 hours rather than 12? You'd still be taking the room off
the market for the night, and have to clean it.

It would be wonderful to have someone you could just call on an
as-needed basis, but that would be a rare find indeed. Most
people want steady work.

Arks - "Does he really think someone will charge him less if he

People don't tend to consider that the effort is in the
cleaning.
Gillumhouse - "Wish I HAD a cleaning lady I could call!"
Me too. If you find that secret source, please let me know. We
normally block a day between guests and that's often not enough.
I'm not much use these days; I struggle to vacuum or carry
replacement supplies for daughter Michelle.

I had a high school girl I could call on for the annual "clean
it all: (she climbs the ladder to take down (and put up) sheers
& drapes). Now she is getting married and I do not know if she
will still be in town (or interested). Another was getting ready
to go back to college and came over - she was trying to get some
extra cash to take to school.
I am thinking of asking the teacher of the Tourism & Business
Class at the high school to ask if anyone is interested. I will
have a whole house to flip Nov 12 after my Vets leave.

Saturday, for the first time (with me in the house) had guests
check themselves in and went to bed. Fixed breakfast, after they
left, went up (glad I did) EVERY light was on! turned off lights
& heat, tossed down linens, took care of what could rot, stink,
or spoil and wend back to bed. Dishes still on table. Hot up
ling enough to take garbage to the curb. (Before going back to
bed, I DID go buy some BenGay - my boyfriend of the season - so
I am at least able to breathe again.)
Unfortunately the world does not stop. Waiting for the
Foundation Vice Chair to arrive with the
checkbooks to be reconciled. Ge arrived just as I typed this.
then it was time to go to the grocery to get the 49 pounds of
beans for the Ham & Bean Dinner & take them to the lady who is
goring to spend the week sorting them. There were 2 businesses
who said no on the phone so I had to stop in - both bought 2
dinners AND a young man at one said, "I don't want the dinners
but here is a donation" - a beautiful $20 bill! Tomorrow the
City Manager sends me the Agenda which I send to the Media & it
is band rehearsal I have missed all of them so far. I think I
am not going to the Foundation meeting Wednesday - I will still
have chapel. Thursday I have someone coming to help plant garlic
at the Community Garden (a lady weedeated it yesterday for me).
I did not go to the Woman's Club meeting tonight. I am off to
bed snuggled up to my boyfriend - Mr. BenGay! I hope everyone
else is well. I am currently death warmed over.
