Housekeeper Sick....

The housekeeper texted in sick today. Guess who got to do all
the rooms. Finished just at 3PM, putting the last load of towels
into the dryer, so I can take them out tomorrow.
One of the guests left me a gift >:( One of the newest towels
with makeup all on it. I put the whole wash of towels with Tide,
Oxy and bleach on the "steam" cycle. I think it came out fine. I
hope it did. Why? I have lovely makeup towels... why?
Friday and Saturday were CRAZY. We got phone calls all day
asking for rooms. When I went to look at rooms on Saturday
evening, the only hotel that had rooms had a 1.9/5 rating and it
was over $1K for the night. Calls all day begging for rooms from
people who didn't plan. A regular guest called me on Friday for
their nibbling, who ended up sleeping on the floor in a kitchen
on Thursday with no towels or sheets. (They were sharing an Air,
but their friends decided to pack the place and there weren't
enough beds... or apparently towels.

Coincidentally, our housekeeper called in sick for two days last
week. There are two of us and we split the work. I do beds,
he does bathrooms. We both do trash and laundry. 🧺.
It does make for a busy day!
We’ve started closing rooms day of. I don’t like last minute
reservations. Some of our most memorable for bad reasons
guests have been walk ins. No more!

We did that a while ago. Those who don't plan, don't seem to be
good guests.
I managed to get all the rooms done, but I was very tired. Today
was a lot less work. Housekeeper discovered antihistamines :D

We have the black makeup towels, too, but my #1 housekeeper
complaint, by far, was always makeup on the hand towels.
So far, so good, regarding my experiment with replacing the
white hand towels with black. The switch to black has solved the
housekeeper complaints, for now.

I hired a girl home from college about to go back so looking for
cash to clean the upstairs today. The 2 rooms with shared bath
have been booked since April so the nurse went to a hotel for 2
nights. I will probably have to have that floor refinished after
she leaves in December - there is a large stain on the floor
that will not come off. It was not there when my daughter did
the ceilings & painted that room in May (she also CLEANED that
room). Sigh.
I left the Gillum Room available just in case - and since no one
has called or booked it, I am doing a free upgrade to the
parents and the kids will have a private bathroom too. I am
giving her room a rest. (She moved her "stuff" into the storage
room - so much in that poor room and left stuff in the closet
that my cleaner found and moved. Then she texts me today saying
she expected a package to arrive today, would I store it for
her? She bought an ice machine - she doesn't want to come
downstairs for mine. UGH! I think I would have said no if she
had asked. I wonder just WHERE she plans to put it! Looking
forward to December!
