Dairy and Eggs-- includes milk, cheese and creams
A description of what they are, along with how served, and a
       quote from the book
Some, may only contain a quote
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Bosk Milk:
thick, rick and sweet. it is milked daily from the bosk - a
heavy bovine comparable to an earth yak.
       How is can be served:
a.) used in blackwine and tea
b.) used as milk on earth would be
c.) can be made into fermented bosk curds
d.) can be made into butter and cheese
---1.) cheese - firm and can be sliced, sharp in taste, travels
well, resists mold in hard rinds
Quote on bosk cheese-- Quite simply, cheese made from the milk
of the bosk. Has a lighter taste than verr cheese. The Tarn
Keeper, who was called by those in the tavern Mip, bought the
food, bosk steak and yellow bread, peas and Torian olives, and
two golden-brown, starchy Suls, broken open and filled with
melted bosk cheese. *Assassin of Gor, pg 168
---2.) butter - churned from bosk milk
Quote on bosk butter--Churned from the milk of either the Bosk
or the Verr. She offered me a silver tray on which, hot and
steaming, were wedges of Gorean bread, made from Sa-Tarna grain.
It took one of them and, from the tureen, with the small silver
dipper, both on the tray, poured hot butter on the bread. *Rogue
       of Gor, pg 191
Quote on bosk milk--The wagon people grow no food, nor do they
have manufacturing as we know it. They are herders and it is
said, killers. They eat nothing that has touched the dirt. They
live on the meat and milk of the bosk. *Nomads of Gor, pg 4
"When the meat was ready, Kamchak ate his fill, and drank down,
too, a flagon of bosk milk, at least for me, did not sit too
well with the Paga of the afternoon." *Nomads of Gor, pg 138 -
       139
       Bosk Milk - powdered:
Quote--I brought up from the kitchen, where I had been keeping
it hot, a vessel of black wine, with sugars, and cups and
spoons. Too, I had brought up a small bowl of powdered bosk
milk. We had finished the creams last night and, in any event,
it was unlikely they would have lasted the night. *Guardsman of
       Gor, pg 295
I watched her as she mixed in a plentiful helping of powdered
bosk milk, and two of the assorted sugars. She then left the
small, rounded metal cup on the tray. *Guardsman of Gor, pg
       296
       Kaiila Milk:
red in color, strong salty taste.
Quote--"...kaiila milk, which is used, like verr milk, by the
       peoples of the Tahari, is reddish and has a strong, salty taste;
it contains much ferrous sulfate;" *ribesmen of Gor, pg 71
"Of course Aya exploited her. It was my intention that she
should. But, too, Aya, with her kaiila strap, continued her
lessons in Gorean. Too, she taught her skills useful to a Tahari
female, the making of ropes from kaiila hair, the cutting and
plaiting of reins, the weaving of cloth and mats, the decoration
and beading of leather goods, the use of mortar and pestle, the
use of grain quern, the preparation and spicing of stews, the
cleaning of verr and, primarily when we camped near watering
holes in the vicinity of nomads, the milking of verr and kaiila.
Too, she was taught the churning of milk in skin bags."
       *Tribesmen of Gor, pg 72 - 73
       Verr Milk:
       almost like goats milk
       How it can be used:
a.) used to make butter and cheese
---1.) verr cheese - a soft mild tasting cheese, can be mixed
with herbs, chopped vegetables or sweetners, with fruit and
       melted for sauces.
Quote on Verr Cheese--In her hand there was a half of a yellow
Gorean pear, the remains of a half moon of verr cheese imbedded
in it. *Explorers of Gor, pg 62
There was a small dairy which supplied verr milk, and processed
it, as wished, into derivative products, primarily cheeses.
       *Rebels of Gor, pg 164
----2.) verr butter - churned from the milk of verr
b.) used like goats milk would be on earth
Quote on verr butter--"She had been carrying a large bag of
churned verr milk on her head.....She dropped the churned verr
milk, the bag's seams fortunately for her not splitting..."
       *Tribesmen of Gor, pg 89
Quote on verr milk--"The smell of fruit and vegetables, and verr
milk was very strong." *Savages of Gor, pg 60
       Creams:
Quote--"Too, I had brought up a small bowl of powdered bosk
milk. We had finished the creams last night and, in any event,
it was unlikely they would have lasted the night. If I had
wanted creams I would have had to have gone to the market."
       *Guardsman of Gor, pg 295
       Creamed Sauce:
Quote--It was a far cry from the provenders I had been taught to
prepare in the house, ranging from roasted, seasoned bosk and
tarsk and fresh plate breads, with honeys and butters, to
frosted pastries and decadent, creamed sauces which, in some
cities, were outlawed by sumptuary laws. *Smugglers of Gor, pg
       111

       Eggs
       Vulo:
tawny colored poultry bird, similar to an earth pigeon, which
exists in the wild, used for meat and eggs.
       How it can be used:
a.) meat can be baked, boiled, fried
b.) eggs can be used much like chicken eggs on earth
Quote--The very small eggs are cooked for the breakfast meal by
frying them in a large, flat pan. It takes several birds or many
eggs to make a meal for the average Gorean, and it is not
unusual for dozens to be consumed by a single Warrior with a
hearty appetite. She had been carrying a wicker basket
containing vulos, domesticated pigeons raised for eggs and meat.
       *Nomads of Gor, pg 1
       Artic Gant Eggs:
large eggs, eaten like apples when frozen.
Quote--I stepped aside to let a young girl pass, who carried two
baskets of eggs, those of the migratory arctic gant. They nest
in the mountains of the Hrimgar and in steep, rocky
outcroppings, called bird cliffs, found here and there jutting
out of the tundra. The bird cliffs doubtless bear some
geological relation to the Hrimgar chains. When such eggs are
frozen they are eaten like apples. *Beasts of Gor, pg 196
       Tarn Eggs:
Quote--The most interesting cargo I noted being disembarked from
the great ship, a cargo handled with great gentleness, and one
not surrendered to the lower Pani, but to warriors, were the
eggs of tarns. Each was given to a single warrior, who bowed to
the egg courteously, wrapped it in silk, and then began to mount
the trail to the castle. I would later learn there had been a
much larger number of eggs, but many had perished on the vessel,
and been cast overboard. Several had apparently been stolen or
destroyed in the mutiny. Some had been broken into, for food.
       *Mariners of Gor, pg 368
       White Grunt Eggs:
       comparable to caviar of earth
       How it is served:
a.) served with tiny slices of fruit or pastries
b.) served how caviar would be on earth
Quote--Before each guests there were tiny slices of tospit and
larma, small pastries, and, in a tiny golden cup, with a small
golden spoon, the clustered, black, tiny eggs of the white
grunt. *Fighting Slave of Gor, pg 275-276
