Hi Beowolff, I see that my intervention has
given you inspiration to point out the philosophy that supports
the site you have with commitment and love, created to offer all
of us the chance to peacefully share our passion, your words are
totally shared and it is commendable your attention in
supervising our interventions. However I believe it is right for
me to make it clear that I had no intention of criticizing
anyone or anything, I have repeatedly stressed that every
addition to our game should be shared and improved with the
collaboration of all, serenely and joyfully, collecting for its
own sake empty of every positive sense the cornerstone of every
sharing site, so I believe that the sense of what I said was
exactly the opposite of what it seemed to be, my post wanted to
be only the wish to widen the participation as much as possible
active at this excellent site to help improve the living
construction of the game. I do not know if it also happens to
you to remember how approximate and elementary Il2 was in the
first edition of twenty years ago, and how much progress, thanks
to hundreds of friends, have been made since the Mod exists! But
how many we still have in front of it ... and where I don't
arrive there is always someone willing to intervene, how
wonderful! When I mentioned those ancient aerial models of the
first version it was only to take a look at the great work that
awaits us, "ad meiora semper" said the Latins, I as a former
Tamya, Rewell modeler etc, I have a great sensitivity towards
the realism of scenes or constructive details, this is my fussy
side, and seeing those models still so approximate becoming more
alive and realistic always excites me a lot, much more than just
downloading and using aircraft for
pure collecting .. but I realize this is my Achilles heel! I
know, if I want more detailed aircraft, I can easily switch to
later versions of Il2, but what can I do ... I also tried to do
it, but I love our game and the first
love stays inside you for life!
Forgive this long declaration, I swear that
in the next few years I will be much more concise!
Stanislao

@ stanislao
what I said I said to everyone... not particularly you,
stanislao.
slow down, take a deep breath...smell the fresh air out AWAY
from your computer. Come back and PLAY the game and enjoy it
for what it is, a fantastic air combat game. Be relaxed and
calm.
No one here is under a time constraint. Mods are not on a
production schedule. Mods come when they come... everyday, once
a week, once a month, whenever the maker of said mods 'wants' to
make them. There are too many jumping up and down for more more
more when it should be a mere 'thank you for what I got TODAY'
attitude.
Our attitude here is to FLY the mods we get in game and fully
enjoy them... not just HAVE them sitting in a folder unused.
And with this good attitude 'how many mods can anyone fly (and
enjoy) in a day/week/month and still fully benefit them?
Everyone knows the answer to that.
Dimon and other modders are free here to do as they please...
mod slow or fast or in between. Neither he nor any here are
punching time clocks for specified amounts of labor. It is the
modders' (or mission makers, or skinners or whoever's) personal
decision about when HE/they wants to produce mods and what mods
he/they want to produce.
It is as simple as that.
But if we concentrate upon our fellowship, friends and FUN
here... it can be a joy to anticipate and finally fly our NEW
mods 'when' we get them.
There is SO much more to this game than a mere lust for new
mods. And that is why mods are SECONDARY to the purpose of this
place. Here, the friends---the people come first. As they
always should have everywhere.
I hope this is understandable and agreeable to everyone here.
Beowolff

I enjoy the exchange of views on all subjects, music drink
health jokes etc, with you guys as allowed on this forum. While
conscious of content space online I try to keep my tomes of
emails as brief as I can. Says he, writing a longer sentence
lol.
I collect the new mods and wait for someone cleverer to create a
campaign to use them.
Meanwhile, since the beginning of this year I have been playing
about an hour most days the stock Luftwaffe Fighter South career
in 4.14.1, Ypack1.2.2, BAT3.7, and 4.13.4 with Modact 6.4. In
addition I am testing DGen Modpack v3.0 in 4.14.1 which has a
Western Front Luftwaffe Fighter career. I hope at the end of the
year to give you all an overview of the differences between
them. The former careers have already run over 130 missions each
and some switch from 109 to 190 at different stages. The 500
plus missions so far thanks to the Dgen system have never been
exactly the same so anticipation of combat is always a pleasure
even if I have only landed successfully twice! In between I have
started various careers by the modders such as DHumphrey,
Greybeard and Poltava.
Long may this sim continue.
I am writing this while battling a raging toothache which will
lay me low for a while. Why does it happen at weekends when the
dentist is shut.

Hello All,
Here is my newest contribution to our community. This 4-mission
mini-campaign was inspired by "The Plane of the Week - Fi156
Storch" over at IL2 Air Combat. :)
Compatibility: 4.12.2m SAS/Mod 5.30 (VPMod pack)

Operation Oak – also known as the Gran Sasso raid was the rescue
of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini by German Fallschirmjäger
led by Major Harald Mors and Waffen-SS commandos in September
1943, during World War II. The airborne operation was personally
ordered by Adolf Hitler, planned and executed by Mors, and
approved by General Kurt Student.
On 12 September 1943, Cpt. Skorzeny and 16 SS troopers joined
the Fallschirmjäger to rescue Mussolini in a high-risk glider
mission. Ten gliders, each carrying nine soldiers and a pilot,
towed by Henschel Hs 126 planes started between 13:05 and 13:10
from the Pratica di Mare Air Base near Rome.
The leader of the airborne operation, paratrooper Oberleutnant
Georg Freiherr von Berlepsch, entered the first glider, while
Skorzeny and his SS troopers sat in the fourth and fifth glider.
To gain height before crossing the close-by Alban Hills, the
leading three glider-towing plane units flew an additional loop.
All following units considered this maneuver unnecessary and
preferred not to endanger the given time of arrival at the
target. This led to the situation that Skorzeny's two units
arrived first over the target.

Meanwhile, the valley station of the funicular railway leading
to the Campo Imperatore was captured at 14:00 in a ground attack
by two paratrooper companies led by Major Harald Mors, who was
commander-in-chief of the whole raid. They also cut all
telephone lines. At 14:05, the airborne commandos landed their
ten gliders on the mountain near the hotel.
The Fallschirmjäger and Skorzeny's special troopers overwhelmed
Mussolini's captors—200 well-equipped Carabinieri guards—without
a single shot being fired. Skorzeny attacked the radio operator
and his equipment and stormed into the hotel, followed by his SS
troopers and the paratroopers. Ten minutes after the beginning
of the raid, Mussolini left the hotel, accompanied by the German
soldiers. At 14:45, Major Mors accessed the Hotel via the
funicular railway and introduced himself to Mussolini.

Subsequently, Mussolini was to be flown out by a Fieseler Fi-156
airplane that had arrived in the meanwhile. Although under the
given circumstances the small plane was overloaded, Skorzeny
insisted on accompanying Mussolini, thus endangering the success
of the mission. After an extremely dangerous but successful
take-off, they flew to Pratica di Mare.

There they continued immediately, flying in a Heinkel He 111 to
Vienna, where Mussolini stayed overnight at the Hotel Imperial.
The next day he was flown to Munich and on September 14, he met
Hitler at Führer Headquarters Wolf's Lair in near Rastenburg.
I tried to keep the campaign as historical as possible with
correct date and time that I've been to accurately research.
Due to limitations of the flight simulation some minor
deviations were required, however, these deviations do not
detract from the historical value depicted in this campaign.
*This campaign has been submitted to M4T for approval. A link
will be provided once approved.
*Skin artists noted in the read-me file.
Enjoy the mini-campaign. :)
