It would be really good to be
able to involve some other modeling master on this site, in fact
our Dimon is too busy and we don't want him to get too tired ...
!!!
In fact, the Storch of default would have to
be improved with a more refined model, as well as many others
... The He 111, the Ju 88, the same Stuka, not to mention the
Marauder or the B 17 ..... how many things beautiful await us on
the Web ... ready, in the model!

---------------------------------------------------------
What are you talking about? If Dimon (or anyone here) is tired
then I suggest that he slow down! No one in any official
capacity here has asked ANY ONE to overwork themselves. In
fact, I've made posts already cautioning about getting too
LOCKED into the game/modding too much and not spending important
time with loved ones, friends, family, other hobbies and so on.
Neither Dimon nor anyone here has spoken to me...the site
owner...about being tired or too tired... which having been
there personally I can surely empathize with, ---however, if
they DID speak to me about tiredness, then I would again say...
'take it easy'. None of us here are on a Time Clock of mod
work. None of us are required to get production figures
demanded by some harsh slave master. We do what we like when we
like to do it, pure and simple. Is this simple fact not
apparent to all here? And once again, an occasional break from
ANY work is both refreshing and healthy. However, as long as
IL2 has been around I have continually witnessed many obsessed
game users DEMAND 100 percent of mod-maker's time to work on
THEIR pet projects...and it is simply WRONG. For years I TOO
was hounded (yes, hounded is the true word to use) to generate
mod after mod after mod...never enough, never fast enough, never
refined enough, etc, etc. ----And ENOUGH ALREADY!
-----------------------------------------
In fact, the
Storch of default would have to be improved with a more refined
model, as well as many others ... The He 111, the Ju 88, the
same Stuka, not to mention the Marauder or the B 17 ..... how
many things beautiful await us on the Web ... ready, in the
model!
----------------------------------------------------
As to the planes you mention. There is nothing basically wrong
with the Storch...nor many of the other planes you mention.
Sure, they 'might' be refined, and yet WHY? ---When they have
served this game well as is and refinement would merely take
away time/effort from possible NEW models/variants? This is NOT
a pure modding site and if anyone thinks so, then they need to
go elsewhere. [b]We don't work our fingers to the bone here to
make every nut/bolt/screw/rivet EXACTLY perfect on planes in ….a
GAME.
Once again, I will speak this for everyone to see... this is a
private site, a private site that primarily is for the fun and
enjoyment,,,, and in particular for the FRIENDSHIP and
COMRADESHIP of ALL it's members. Mods are SECONDARY to that.
Please... believe me when I say this plainly (and as I have
CLEARLY said from the VERY beginning.) I wasn't joking the
first time I said it, and trust me, I am NOT joking now.
Settle down and have fun here mixing with your fellow members
and comrades... have fun PLAYING THE GAME... ---mods are only
something to enhance our fun... NOT take the place of it so that
people can COLLECT 3D software planes as if they were
collectible models to place upon a shelf.

Thank you, OttO and Russ… clearly you guys know what I mean and
I hope others do as well.
This is fast becoming a serious calamity to this site and it's
original intention for existing... I've seen this time after
time with this game. You have guys just wanting to have fun and
enjoy themselves and yes, they like new mods... Ah, but then you
have COLLECTERS who actually seldom FLY the planes the game
already has nor even the new mods that they are freely given
---instead 'merely' collecting them in some TREASURE TROVE to
pull out on rare occasions and gaze at.
How MANY new planes can you REALLY fly and ENJOY at any one
time?
Everyone with a brain knows the answer to that question.
Everyone... SLOW DOWN. TAKE A DEEP BREATH. GET A GRIP ON WHAT
IS REALLY IMPORTANT IN LIFE.... friends, family, other hobbies
and studies and so on... THEN come back to the game with a level
head and a calm mind and ENJOY what both the game, and the new
mods, have to offer.
S!

I agree with you, Beo. I have seen elsewhere the DEMAND for mods
to be created or released, the nitpicking over perceived
inaccuracies, and sometimes just a display of haughty,
aggressive sense of entitlement. I for one greatly appreciate
the incredible work you, Dimon, and all the others have added to
this wonderful sim, FOR FREE. AND not just the active modder,
but everyone who contributes, be it knowledge, camaraderie, or
just a simple thank you. I can assure you that I take none of
this for granted. So a big, heartfelt thank you to everyone. I
believe this site will continue to grow and become an oasis for
people who love IL-2 and aviation in general.

Kind of in a hole I dug here..I have 5 installs of IL-2 and
looking to whittle those down..I think most mods I have are
cross install workable just need to sit back and get to maybe
2--3 at most I'm thinking just BAT,,DBW and VP Mod and might be
a good idea to slim those down..I don't think i need all those
setups..Input would be welcome

Just speaking off the top of my head, Rus, I have BAT and VP
Modpack. I used to have DBW and loved it but it became corrupted
somehow and I let it go.
I like BAT and VP Modpack because they are both easy installs,
and both originate on 4.12. The majority of mods these days are
compatible with that version. I do not like to mod BAT, because
the updates occur so frequently (installing an update usually
erases any mods you install yourself, and I do not mean this as
a complaint; it is just a byproduct of the easy installation)
and it is very inclusive. In other words, there is not much I
would want to add.
When I get a mod I like (plane, map, whatever) I usually add
that to VP Modpack. I have given thought to trying to reinstall
a DBW but frankly I don't have much time left over from the two
installs I already have.
