About the mods here: *Note, Important Update!
By: Beowolff Date: January 29, 2019, 9:47 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Simple... we use to try to uphold high virtues of NO putting up
what you don't have 'set in stone' permission from various
authors to use rules... I said we used to. I truly used to
(and I guess still do to some degree) believe in that as being
gentlemanly. Until I discovered that the true gentlemen are few
and far between these sorry days.
Now, due to prolific grabbing of mods, deliberate mudding of the
waters on who made what, plus to be honest the HUGE torrent of
mods NOW floating around the IL2 universe, it's become quite
impossible to really see that sort of gentleman's agreement as
being valid anymore.
No... these days, this site as most sites, now operate under the
'try to give credit where credit is due' clause...but otherwise,
don't worry about it. It's the 'do what the hell you want to
with it' twilight of this old sim, and there's nothing we can do
about it.
Hell, I had an entire site stolen from me... The 'Original' FREE
MODDING site, including it's thousands of pages of hard work,
thousands of hours of my life spent on that work, hundreds of
mods etc, etc... so should I cry over somebody's small mod
being used by people I don't even know? Hardly.
I no longer even care if my mods are stolen or used by anyone
(right OC_TYGER, Barney the purple dino, and so on over at
*still-MY-site IL2 Free Modding* that you stole?) ... steal my
stuff? ---good for you! Just use it and be happy. If it helps
you enjoy the game more (before this old game falls into the
sinkhole of forgetfulness and disuse) then by all means go for
it.
Hell, everybody else has stolen my crap (right Tyger? Barnsey?)
Why not others? LOL! :D
Anyway, if you post a mod here...expect to abide by that simple
rule. It can no longer be protected... nobody, and I mean
nobody, is even trying anymore. And so though I would like
to... I SEE the writing on the wall and give up. *This has been
updated (common courtesy and sense) to if you use someone's
stuff (a fellow member here) and he complains or asks you or
asks me to ask you NOT to do this...then don't do it! Read the
post immediately below this for more information on this
important update!
So, if you post your mod here leave your silly 'I want all the
glory' shoes at the door and just come on in and fit in with the
crowd... and let's have fun. Listen to me, the days of this old
sim are numbered. Enjoy every minute of it...while you can.
*Again please carefully read the important update to this post
below!
S! ;D

UPDATE!
Before I post this update I'd like to ask a favor...please (if
you haven't already read it or don't remember reading it), READ
THIS POST!
HTML https://il2freemodding.createaforum.com/this-is-a-private-member's-only-board/this-is-a-private-boardforum-readme/
Now basically what that post tells everyone is that this is a
PRIVATE site. And it will remain so. I've already had one site
stolen from me, IL2 Free Modding… and don't intend to have
another one stolen. Though member input is certainly welcome
AND encouraged... the final say on important issues here is MINE
and MINE alone. I'm not trying to be the BIG MAN or the OVER
LORD... I'm merely intending to no longer be so trusting as to
let people that 'claim' to be my friends knife me in the back
(Barnesy? Tyger? Slipper? Willie...you get that?) >:(
Now you can certainly disagree with me, that's fine and also
encouraged if you really feel you are right and I am wrong and
if your initial argument makes sense then I'll strongly consider
it. I promise. However, when it comes to the end of the
conversation it's MY CALL. ---Or one of my FOUNDER members'
call if I'm not here....cause 'they' are the guardians of this
place when I am not here! And do not mistake that, please.
So it's okay to disagree... but do it properly with no snarky
comments and or 'I know better than you' between-the-lines
insinuations/remarks. I may as well tell you right now that I
don't like SNARKY arse-hats and or slick-pretentious "I am
smarter than you' undertones/comments. If you can't make your
points without that BS then it's BEST to remain silent and bite
your tongue...just sayin'. >:(
Rules change...but so far the above remain constant.
But yes, rules DO change and sometimes I'm so busy
building/maintaining/reworking this site, answering questions
answering pm's/emails from members/helping members with the game
or mods, and or BUILDING or WORKING on new mods that I don't
always get things updated like I should. Yeah... and sometimes
I'm just too sick to do it... or sometimes, God Forbid...busy
with personal life (or even just lazy!) Ha! Okay, so the rules
don't always get updated or something else don't get done... so
be it.
But trying to USE that to build your case or make your argument
for you is not going to do anything for you except whiz me right
off. I am not a perfect man... I make mistakes and screw up. I
do it a lot. So do you all... and I can get whizzed when
people try to show me up, put me down, or otherwise show their
superior mindset to me. Put simply, I don't like that chite!
And I advise you to NOT do it.
Again, when in doubt...don't do it. Don't needle me or anyone
here on the forum. Don't for one second feel superior to me or
anyone on this forum...this is straight from the horses mouth,
people. I don't like it. I won't put up with it.
I'm a fair and honest man (or try my best to be,) but somethings
I simply won't put up with.
Again... you can disagree, point mistakes out to me in a
friendly manner, even argue... but in the end... I MAKE THE
CALL.
Remember, I'm doing my best to keep this PRIVATE SITE a fun and
happy place for ALL... a SAFE HAVEN against the meanness,
ugliness, and hyper-aggressive know-it-alls at a few of the
OTHER IL2 sites---something this game has been plagued with for
years.
I protect ALL members here to the best of my ability. ALL
members. Not just one of you, or a select group of you...
No...rather ALL members.
This entire post is due to a recent challenge about the rules...
someone wanting to do what HE thought was okay but in doing it
he was going against the wishes of another member. NOPE.
That's not how it works. I respect his thoughts on it but my
decision is to protect the one's work that was being abused
….just as I would protect the work of the one doing the arguing!
Simple common sense here: I don't care if you take my
work...hell, it's already been TAKEN without permission so many
times ...what's the use?' But OTHER people might care and not
want their work messed with (especially by OTHER sites.) And if
they don't, they don't. And I respect that because after all
it's THEIR work. How can anybody not understand that? D'oh!
So... again common sense... if a member appeals to me or the
main site and clearly says KEEP MY WORK HERE OR DON'T MESS WITH
MY WORK, OR DON'T MESS WITH IT AND TAKE IT ELSEWHERE then please
RESPECT his wishes. And if you don't...we're going to
butt-heads!
True enough as a general rule here 'most' mods are free to use
and even update... UNLESS they have 'specifically' been asked
not to be. If you do it and get called on it... do not argue...
rather respect the modder's thoughts/wants and let it be. If
there is any doubt about a mod...don't be an ingrate... simply
ASK. Nine times out of ten you will likely get permission to
use the mod. Or not. But it's the makers choice...not yours.
Use common courtesy and common sense and ALL will be well.
And please... don't make me have to keep pointing that out!
Salute!
Beowolf
