MISSION COMPLETE
Debrief:
Took off and followed the Flight
leader East and the turned North meeting up with two JU52
Transports. Weather was fine with good visibility. When east of
our besieged forces Four unidentified single engine aircraft
approached from the East heading South West at about 6000ft. My
wingman and I descended into a tight turning dogfight 4 against
2. I fired a few deflection shots at the Lead Yak without
scoring any visible damage. I noticed a second Yak setting up an
attack underneath my wingman as he climbed up after another
Yak. I gave a quick second burst he banked hard right and dove
for the deck. I followed unable to catch up as the Yak was
faster in the descent. The Yak started to sharply turn right I
pulled to loose speed rolled over and saw the Yak pass
underneath. I got myself onto its tail as the Yak Pulled over
into a slight Climb at 30 meters distance I let him have it with
a 5 sec burst of 4 20mm ad 2 x 7.92mm. Bits and pieces were
flying all over the place. I recovered and began searching for
my Wingmen he was behind me having dealt with the other two
Yaks. I Claim one Yak-1 Destroyed. Two Soviet trucks were
spotted near a Soviet Artillery unit and were strafed with
remaining Ammunition. Both trucks were on fre when exiting the
area. On Landing I applied to much brake and rolled the FW190
over ..... >:( Started a fire destroying my aircraft.

Excellent mission. Those Yaks moved like demons. I'm glad you
were able to return home alive and well. Sorry about your plane.
Perhaps the brakes were not working well ... Anyway, it is a
demanding plane, it requires a lot of skill when landing.
One fact that someone might not remember is that the FW-190
locks the tail wheel when the flight stick is pushed back
towards you. You pull the lever when you know that the plane is
not going to rise again, with this you block the tail wheel, and
also that pressure of the tail wheel against the ground, helps
the plane to brake. Then you steer with the brake as with any
other airplane, brief touches of the brake to avoid that it
buries the nose in the ground.
Congratulations! Glad to know you're still flying. Keep it up!
