over the area. The Ju-52s started making their supply drops. We
made a single orbit of the town when the enemy planes arrived. I
counted 8+ enemy Yak fighters with more coming. I ordered my
wingman to attack. I spotted a Yak slightly below me and I made
an attack run.

When I was within range I pulled the trigger. I saw the left
wing tear away from his plane. His aircraft went into a death
spiral. The enemy aircraft exploded when it impacted on the
ground, "no" parachute was noted. I then began a new search for
another enemy plane. Over the radio I heard the calls of battle.

looked to my right and saw my wingman shooting and hitting an
enemy fighter, another Yak. It was at this time I noticed that
another enemy plane was maneuvering to my wingman's six o'clock
position, getting ready to attempt a shot. I shoved my throttle
to the stops and turned toward the enemy plane. Once again I was
above him. I saw the enemy shoot. My wingman was able to
maneuverer away from his fire. This gave me the opportunity to
cut loose with my guns in his direction. This was enough, the
enemy plane broke off the attack. Now, I was able to press my
attack lining up on his six. Once I was within range I fired my
guns and cannons. I saw my rounds hit his plane. The Yak
instantly caught fire, seconds later it exploded in
mid-air.

aircraft were visible or for that matter being reported in the
area. We had cleared the skies of the enemy. We then turned our
attentions to the enemy's ground positions. I ordered my wingman
to return to our formation. I noted a large gathering of enemy
artillery guns not far from a river near the town. I then
ordered my wingman to attack ground targets,
"all".[/

sans-serif][font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica,
sans-serif]We both commenced making our ground attack runs. I
made the first run hitting and destroying an enemy artillery
piece. My wingman followed attacking another. As we continued
our attacks, enemy anti-aircraft began to fire at us. I made
another run. I hit another artillery
[
/font]emplacement,
destroying the gun. As I pulled up and away I felt my plane
shake and heard a loud noise from behind me. My right elevator
had been hit and was blown off my aircraft.
HTML https://i.ibb.co/9cZbTYf/Jun-7-2021-8-53-52-PM.jpg
Now my controls were very sluggish and difficult to move. I
turned and began to fly a heading for home. I ordered my wingman
to "rejoin" in case we ran into an enemy fighter on the way
home. About halfway home my engine began to run rough, it must
have caught some flak as well. We were able to reach our home
base without harassment from enemy aircraft. I ordered my
wingman to return to base. I then made an extended downwind,
base, and final approach, giving me enough time to make a good
strait-in landing. I was lucky, I waited until the last minute
to drop my landing gear. I touched down just as the gear locked
into position. I was able to make a proper roll-out and taxied
to the maintenance area. My crew chief said that the plane could
be ready in a few days. The elevator fix is easy he said, but
the engine will take time, it needs to be replaced.

I must thank you for having the courage to fly it and publish
it. The description of your flight is very complete and gives us
an idea of the excellent flight you have made. Indeed, an FW-190
in trouble can be a headache, but you have managed to get home
and also landing the plane, which has its merit as well.
Congratulations! I will fly soon, but honestly, I hope someone
else gets ahead of me.

Thanks All for your kind comments. I hope you fair well during
this mission, it was great fun !!! :)
I think I've "finally" solved my image security error issue.
I've updated my AAR above with the battle pics I had taken. I've
also made some minor updates to my report, I had forgot about
the Ju-52 escort portion of the mission.

Misc. Info if desired: Mission flown in BAT BLUE EDGE 4.1.3
Results/description of mission: MISSION COMPLETE
DEBRIEF:
Take off without incident. Meeting with the Ju-52s as scheduled
at rejoin point, Novodigino. The first couple of FW190 stay
close to the Junkers. As I am leading the second pair, I decide
to make a forward patrol. I reach the area where Steiger and his
people are fiercely resisting. I fly over the easternmost
Russian positions, and identify four Katiusha rocket launchers
lined up on the outskirts of a forest, but there are no signs of
enemies in the air. When the Ju-52s are reaching their target, I
fly over the position, at an altitude of approximately 1500
meters. I look back to see if my partner is still there, and at
that moment I discover, in the distance, coming from the east
and at my same altitude, a small group of unidentified aircraft.
The first thing that caught my attention was that they started
flying disorderly, "they must be human", I thought ... but I
immediately discarded the idea, it was not possible under the
circumstances. I instructed my wingman to attack enemy fighters
if he could see them first, to which I replied yes, he did, and
he dove around a sharp curve heading for the incoming contacts.
We ran into the Russians and the fighting began, crusaders,
mixed and individual. At first it was quite confusing.

Somehow a Yak that I hadn't seen got into my six and started
shooting. I did a break to one side and then the other, and
finally got the Yak to pass me. Oblique scissors, half barrels,
various dangerous crosses. In a scissors The Yak crossed in
front of my cannons, I opened fire, and the enemy plane exploded
in a bloody fireball.
HTML https://i.postimg.cc/8zFf57J5/pagew23-01.jpg
Some of my comrades said they were in trouble, I ran in search
of the aggressor and found him. Further chases resulting in
another Yak downed. The latter moved like a snake, I spent a lot
of bullets on that plane. Meanwhile, the transports had done
their job and retired. There were no more enemies left, I
suppose the first pair of FW190 had taken care of shooting down
the remaining Soviet planes.
HTML https://i.postimg.cc/ydKDvnfg/pagew23-02.jpg
Before leaving the area, I identified a rocket launcher position
blocking the path of our troops. Several vehicles had been
destroyed by German artillery beyond the river. I made two
successive attacks, destroying a Katiusha rocket launcher on
each pass. There was no one left alive there. I told my wingman
to get out of there before more Russians came. We move away
first to the west and then south. We all go back to base. End of
my report.

Excellent mission report Haukka ... well done !!! You and I had
roughly the same result as far as enemy targets. I watched your
mission video, very exciting when that enemy Yak jumped you, I
know that feeling. We both got lucky. :)

Thanks DHumphrey! When I discovered that Yak at my six, for a
moment I doubted my survival. I finally managed to get it off
me. I was lucky the Yak blasting right under my nose didn't ruin
my own engine, that has happened to me before in the past. This
time, splinters from the blast hit the armored glass in the
cockpit, but I was able to move on without engine damage. This
was a more difficult mission than I expected, yet I have enjoyed
it very much. We will be back there soon.
Good photos DH! Thanks for expanding your report ;) . Now I will
light a candle to St. Galland, to see if any more brave show up.
See you soon friend!

Bird here at the last minute ;D
Well, to start with I'd say I've learned my lesson about
depending on .ntrk to create a good record to make screenshots.
I was so proud of remembering to close my canopy (Doh!), and yet
when I started the track my little guy doesn't close it. It rips
off and he starts off into some strange direction I never went
when I flew the mission.

So, we took off. Yep. And I closed my canopy. ;D Climbed out to
altitude, and met our big guys on their way to target. Flew
ahead, then back, then practiced mock B-nZ tactics on them until
I had a better sense of just how quickly this plane can
accumulate and expel energy, and it is amazing. We stayed with
the bombers over the target, and good thing! Felt like the Yaks
were mating in front of me, and hatching before I could get back
around. All credit to my fellow pilots, and especially my
wingman who kept the one that was always ON ME off of me.
Official wingman or not, I know what my "TAB 8" key is for ;) I
attacked an enemy fighter from a good thousand feet and just
freaking OBLITERATED him. I turned as I climbed out and watched
the pieces go every which way. My second kill was more about
lining up a shot, but B-n-Z was the real ticket. I just had to
figure out where he was going to be and not fool around as I was
dropping on him.

I stayed above the area as the other planes strafed the ground
targets. I never spoke to the CO, and I never really knew some
of those other pilots, so I'm not aware of our losses during
this mission

I claim two Yak fighters, and hold deep admiration for you
fellas. Great scores and stories with screenshots. Thanks for
such great entertainment.

Excellent last minute entry, Bird! I was already thinking that
we had lost you in the vast white plains. Sometimes the tracks
don't correspond to reality, I don't think it's something to
worry about. I like the captures that you two have made. The
most important thing is that you have gone there and have done
the work, and then you have shared it with others. This was a
difficult mission. Very soon there will be more work for you. In
the meantime, have a good night! ;)
