Mission results week 10
By: DHumphrey Date: March 8, 2021, 4:25 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Completed Mission #10, unforturatly, my Photoshop program has
become corrupted and unusable so I don't have any screen shots
to post currently.
Date flown: 3/7/21
Version: 4.12 VpMod Pack
Mission: Scramble
Results: Mission success, 400 pts, 3 enemy fighters destroyed
After Action Review (AAR):
My mates and I were just getting ready to have dinner when the
air raid warning alarm sounded. The Boss ran into the mess and
yelled get to your planes ... the Russians are coming !!! We ran
to our aircraft to find them warming up as our crew chiefs had
the motors running. I jumped into my cockpit strapped in and
shoved the throttle forward. I got to the runway quickly and
took off. I ordered my 3 plane flight to attack fighters.
I saw numerous enemy aircraft approaching the airfield, I-153s
and I-16s. I was able to get behind a I-153. I got in close
behind him and raked his plane with my guns. The enemy plane
began to smoke and started loosing altitude. I peeled away
looking for another target when I noticed the enemy plane caught
fire and crashed.
About that time I was nearly caught off guard when an I-16
closed and fired. He missed. I was able to roll up underneath
him and caught him with a snap shot. I saw his port wing fall
from his aircraft. He spun into the ground with a massive
explosion. I turned away thanking my luck. I saw one of my mates
in trouble from a I-153. I pushed my throttle to the stop trying
to catch the enemy plane.
I was able to get in behind the 153, showering him with my guns.
He caught fire and blew up in midair. I looked for yet another
target but found only quiet air around me. My mates had gotten
another two enemy aircraft. The enemy planes has strafed our
base with minimal damage. My flight had survived this encounter
and all had landed safely.
Note: This was a great mission to fly, very enjoyable !!! :) I
got a "mission completed" message when I landed. I also got a
"secondary mission completed" message after the enemy fighters
were destroyed. :) Haukka, well done on the mission updates !!!

My mission is listed as week 10, but I'm pretty sure from the
date, and the previous report that we are on the same mission. I
unboxed a brand new stick today, and true to form, was so into
the instant fight that I never commanded the rest of my squad.
Anyway: met an I-16 and was immediately in a turn-fight. I kept
on him until I had shot him down, just a couple of miles from
the airfield. Afterwards, I engaged a 153 and raked him a few
times before running out of ammunition. I stayed on him, as a
bluff, so he would be the one to break off and "escape", giving
me a chance to turn back to home. He fooled me and performed a
wide turn, jumping me as I was setting up my approach. I managed
to evade his fire though, and had to drop onto the airfield in
front of my squad . . . yep, still sitting there. The CO should
never put me in charge. But there I sat, Mission Complete and a
score of 200 for my one kill. My screenie of the score didn't
save for some reason, but there will soon be a movie of what
turned out to be a classic dogfight.
Bird Out.

Excellent flight! You're good, DHumphrey, we'll have to increase
your pay ;) ;D
I have always liked fictionalized debriefs, I have loved yours,
and I have not missed the photographs, since the descriptive
images of your story have been enough to describe the scene and
the succession of events. Once again, you do better than I did
in my previous tests. Thank you for your kind return, indeed, I
have put into practice what you have taught me in the mission
edition, Thank you!! I'm also glad to know that I'm still
learning! 8)
To edit images, I mainly use Photoscape
HTML http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php?lc=en,
it is free,
it is updated frequently, and in my opinion it is very good, at
least for the simple editing of the IL2 photos and the mission
banners it is more than enough.
Friend, I thank you again for your valuable participation!
PD: I have taken the liberty of correcting the week number in
the title of your publication, I have changed it from Week 04
(which is the number of the mission within the campaign that I
have taken as the basis for these missions) to Week 10
(Week Numbers for
2021
HTML https://www.epochconverter.com/weeks/2021),
which is the week we
are in. I hope you don't mind my intervention. Thanks.

You are in the correct post, Tsiqua ;)
You have made a good flight; If they have given you 200 points,
it is because the command has credited you with two kills, which
is not bad: those two varenik eaters will not return next week,
that's for sure. Anyway, you know that this contest is measured
more by the fun of the pilot than by the points he receives.
Still, I'm sorry that Soviet biplane attacked you when you were
about to finish your mission, but they are perks of this trade.
That which has happened to you and that has caused a tragic
ending has a very clear cause, something very normal at some
point in the pilot's career, and which can be replaced by
another cause to obtain a different result. I'm not going to
elaborate here because it's not the place, but I'll do a
tutorial soon to help you with it, and maybe someone else. The
topic of the tutorial will be something like "Progressive
Development of Situational Awareness in a virtual environment".
I think you'll like it. With a group of comrades, we have
studied the subject in detail for several years, based on the
excellent virtual pilot manual: "In Pursuit"
HTML http://www.virtualpilots.fi/feature/lento_ohjeet/inpursuit/inpursuit.pdf,<br
/>by Johan Kylander, highly recommended for everyone. That is
every fighter pilot's bible.
Friend, thanks for your descriptive debrief, I really liked it.
I will wait for that video too :) ;)
PS: And congratulations on your art, I have heard you play, you
are tremendous! :o :o :o
Greetings and see you soon.
PS2: Warm regards to all vareniks eaters. My grandmother made
delicious vareniks, with cream and apple, in the manner of the
Volga Germans.

E69, I have downloaded your recommendation and will be reading
it like the magical tome it seems to be. This was my first
flight with the new stick and I was thinking more about that
than I should have been. Thank you for the help, and all you do
here, Sir! ~S

Thanks Cafs, however I'm also a skinner. All my templates are PS
format. So I'm going to try and delete the program then reload
it and hopefully that corrects the problem.
UPDATE: 3/10/21 - I was able to delete my current installed
Photoshop program (6.0) and reinstalled from scratch. All is now
well, my Photoshop is now up and running normally, whew !!! :)

Debrief mission week 10:
We were partially warned that we could receive unexpected
visitors, but that was something as obvious as it was
predictable, as probable as not very demonstrable, all this
until you hear a distant purr that is not the characteristic
sound of a Fiat engine, then you realize that something that
does not fit, that something is not right, and at that moment
the base siren begins to sound, and you know that the moment has
come, and that you are not ready for it, hell! "Tell those
Russians to make a detour and come back in five minutes!" I
yelled at my mechanic, who also yelled back: "Better take off
right now, sir!" Then I start to fight with the start of my
engine, which for some reason refuses to start, while I see how
the Soviet fighters fly with impunity over our field ...
shooting at everything that crosses them ... minutes later it
will be shown that our guys from the anti-aircraft are good at
their job.

I manage to take off and immediately start the chase of a
biplane, this boy was moving like a demon, I abandoned the
pursuit of this, because he was dragging me away from the base,
and I returned to chase an I-16. That one I shot down near the
base. Then the biplane came back, and it also fell in front of
my guns. When I was preparing to land, I discovered that my
pilots were still at the head of the runway, they had not
started the flight, which means that all the work was done
between the guys from AAA and this pilot, who managed to land
intact, and thus accredit a complete mission.

My pilots were called to the commander's office to give
explanations about his inactivity. These acts of insubordination
are not gratuitous, even less in a state of war. I hope they
have a good excuse.
