World of Tanks

Yep... just started (or rather re-started) playing this game
again after several years completely away from it. You guys are
likely aware of my cancer, then heart attack situation several
years ago...okay but also while I was stretched out in the
hospital my nice gaming rig got blown across the room at home by
an ill-fated lighting strike that ran through the wall outlet
(and yes I had protection but a direct strike like that fried
EVERYTHING.) So... yes, I was playing WOT and a few other games
(Steam games) at the time of my sickness so ALL of that (along
with thousands of my IL2 mod work files) was gone in a flash.
Only the last year or so have I even felt like getting back on
the computer again, let along play a game... this site is the
result of my efforts to 'get back' into playing my beloved
IL2...however I do still crave some strange on occasion, I.E.
World of Tanks.
Surprisingly, even after all this time WOT 'still' had my
account information, and really with very little trouble I was
able to retrieve it and carry on. The hardest part was (due to
my REALLY crappy) net connection it took 24 hours plus to
download all the needed gaming files onto my computer. Yikes!
But once downloaded, it all ran without a hitch and remarkably
(though I am SO rusty at this twitch playing) online gaming thru
WOT is very, very smooth even with my crap connection. I've
played several low key missions now and only had a few hiccups.
This is much, much better than it 'used' to be!
Okay, the bum deal with supposedly 'free' games like WOT, is
that they aren't really free or rather they don't want to be
free. LOL! They make it hard to STAY free due to all of the
cash sucking efforts to try and force you to buy extra stuff.
And without that stuff, you are DEFINITELY at a disadvantage
against kids playing against you with the bottomless pockets of
their parents' credit cards at their instant disposal! Ha!
BUT... yes, if you play smart you CAN still make a fair go of
it. How do I know? I know because I'm already getting kills,
making points, and those points equate to game cash for upgrades
and such.
My first battle (in my trusty Jumbo Sherman) I nailed two kills
and helped capture an enemy base... lots of points which I used
to rearm my Jumbo, add extra equipment, and even add additional
training for my crew which particularly helped in my 'next'
battle!
So yeah... I'm too old to set at the computer till the wee hours
of the morning like I used to. Too sick to. And then I have
this site and my IL2 game and mod work so I won't be playing
crazy... but once or twice a week hey...it's fun like I remember
it being!
