Model Aircraft Box Art Of The IL2 Planes We Love

Yes, I stumbled across this while searching for Lysander
Squadron information (which BTW is VERY scarce.) And it hit me
just how BEAUTIFUL and appealing model airplanes art work is.
G'ah! The guys that do this work for the model companies are
MASTERS when it comes to making a cardboard box APPEAL to guys
(and gals, I guess) that love airplanes. Even now as an older
man I can hardly resist the PULL of these airplane kits when I
walk by them in a store. LOL! Just the artwork alone PULLS me
to grab a box and run to the checkout counter to buy it.
If you've got a fave plane from IL2 that you've seen in kit
form...by all means post up it's art! ;D

Oh, here's an interesting one! Though the artwork is very
simply and not so attractive take a look at the package! Ha!
I've NEVER seen a model sold in a plastic bag before...not
       commercially anyway.

Here's a marvelous one... I've actually seen this one in stores
back some years ago. Beautiful model pic! Looks near identical
       to my own IL2 version.

My very first model kit. 1960. I was 12 years old. My father
and I put it together. Dad loved Spitfires. Mom was English
and he really admired "The Few". Didn't paint it, just neatly
glued it together and put on the decals. Hand flew it around
the house and backyard for at least a year until it had a fatal
       crash.

Beautiful bird, Bee! No doubt you were VERY proud (and excited)
to get this baby looking good..
       Kudos! ;D

I used to love to put kits together when I was a kid. We lived
in Ohio and $2 was a small price to pay for my mom to have
something for me to do on winter snow days. My friend Robert did
the painting; even then I was graphically impaired.

I've assembled that same 2nd model kit from Airfix, back at the
early 70's, painted with the same Gray/Green of the front
       picture.
A simple, but well made, kit.
       Good memories. :D :D :D
